This user purchased this item from Newegg 12/15/2009 4:58:05 PM Decent linux friendly board

Pros: Small and compact. Decently laid out.

Very fast. System often posts before my monitor even comes on.

Linux friendly and everything appears to work in both Knoppix and Fedora.

PXE boots and USB boots with no issues.

Decent amount of space around CPU for your heatsink. Most heatsinks should have no problems.

Built it video is perfect for server/email/surfing and has PCI-E for high end graphics.

Cons: The board has serial and parallel header pins onboard but does not include cables. So if you need these ports then you will need extra cables.

Memory actually maxes at 800. So 1033 gets downclocked.

The header pins are all two pin side by side. So if your case has FP connectors with three or more "pins" in the connector they will not work. I had to pull a connector from an old system to get my cases power LED to work. Shouldn't be a problem on most new cases.

Not really a con but the speaker header pins are separate from the rest. Took me a minute to find them.

No fan headers other than the CPU.

Ethernet is 10/100 not GigE

Other Thoughts: I bought this to restore a dead 32bit P4 3.2 HT system. It was very cheap and I wasn't sure if my MB was the real problem so I gambled and it paid off. Even though it wasn't listed my CPU matched close enough that I thought it would work. (Single core 800) Moved over my memory, CPU and HD and everything came up first time with no issues.

This user purchased this item from Newegg 12/9/2009 5:27:43 PM Good basic board

Pros: Good basic board for the money. Especially after the MIR
Surfing web and light gaming. Fire up without a hitch. Happy with the purchase.

Cons: Do not do heavy gaming otherwise you will be very disappointed. You get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: P4 3.2G , 2 GB ram , 250 G hdd, old case from the corner of the attic

onboard intel gma3100 video is not a good choice for htpc.

frys used to give these mbs away for free with a cpu purchase.

I am showing 2.99 for shipping so wouldn't that be $27.98, I am just saying

unfortunately you have to go to the next model to support c2Q and I don't believe this one supports changing voltage (not sure about frequency). The next model that is 10 bucks more after rebate doesnt support over volt v core either which is a downer. How can they justify the retail on this with such restrictive bios options.

Pricing is everything, try finding any C2D board under $30 bux, and do you really want to overclock? you can buy a board for $50 more, or you can buy a $50 more cpu with better performance!

Excellent price!! In 4 1.

thats what i said haha

sold out?

I have really had only excellent experiences with ECS G31T-M motherboards over the years. Yes, they are lower end boards, and yes they usually cannot overclock, but hey, they have been rock solid for me and I have used them a lot in lower end builds.

I purchased a lot of the ECS G31T-M's last year when FRY's had the Q9550 combo's for $199-$249. I used the ECS G31t-M's in lower end builds usually with Intel's E4500's and they are still running today with no problem whatsoever.

I did notice this new ECS G31T-M9 has only two [2] SATA slots on the motherboard whereas the ECS G31T-M's had four [4].

If you need more than 2 SATA ports, you may want to wait for the ECS G31T-M9 v.7 because they have 4 SATA ports.

Also, I noticed the newer boards have 1 PCI slot vs. the 2 PCI slots on the older version.

If you are on a limited budget and need a stable and simple system that is reliable and trustworthy, I highly recommend these boards.

I posted some pics of each version so you can see some of the differences.

Hope this helps someone!

Have a great day everyone!

I got the same board at Newegg on Black Friday. It came out to $17 after rebate. It does not has overclocking features, but I changed the FSB of my C2D CPU using copper paint. It makes a very stable computer at 3.4 GHz. That computer is used mostly to download videos from my HD TiVo, clipping the commercials, changing the video format, etc. I recommend it for a low cost system.

You can just rearrange the metal insert on a 3-pin unit to make the 2 pins side by side, and let the now-empty 3rd pin hang off the edge of the jumper. Have had to do this quite a few times. Thankfully, the power LED jumper is on the side of the jumper block to make this possible.
