Yesterday I posted that Tiger direct had the Ooma Core 100-0103-101 on sale for $199. If you go to Bing, search Sony Laptop you will get a Tiger Direct link with a CashBack of 15%. Use that link to go to Tiger Direct and search Ooma Core and you will see that the Ooma model 100-0103-101 is reduced by $50 from their normal price. You will also see that you will receive $30 Bing CashBack and the shipping is free.
These Core units are disappearing and the new Ooma Telo is replacing them. With the Telo, some of the services that were included with the Core units can only be obtained with a Premier Ooma subscription.
READ THE COMMENTS AND YOU WILL SEE THAT TIGER DIRECT CANCELED MOST OF THE ORDERS, INCLUDING MINE AT $170 AND CHANGED THE ITEM NUMBER TO #O90-1002, BUT THE ITEM IS STILL AVAILABLE. HOWEVER THE BING IS ONLY 0.085 PER CENT SO THE PRICE IS NOW $182.40. CONTINUE TO DO THE Sony LAPTOP SEARCH AT TIGER, THEN SEARCH ON THE BING/TIGER DIRECT SITE FOR ITEM #O90-1002. USING THAT LINK YOU CAN ORDER IT. I GUESS THEY DID NOT LIKE THE 15% CashBack!
I have never had a problem with BCB from Tiger Direct. As a matter of fact, I get the credit for BCB from Tiger Direct faster than any other merchant and usually receive the BCB e-mail immediately after placing my order with Tiger Direct. However, I was not pleased to see that they canceled my first order at 15% and then offered the same product under a different part number at 8.5% the next day. The bottom line is I want one of these and the next price is $245 at Amazon or $249 at Radio Shack (Tax=Ugg).
crystalgun said: How to get 10% BCB? I only see 8.3%.
I signed into my BCB account. Then I clicked the shopping on the left and looked up TigerDirect.com. It says 8-10%, I clicked go to store and then made the purchase. 5 minutes after the purchase got an email saying I got $20 Cash Back.
I bought the Hub & Scout from WalMart a few weeks back, under the impression I was grandfathered into the NO FEES EVER clause... but after calling and talking to customer service, was informed I'll be billed $12/year....which is still a deal.... but $12 more per year I wasn't counting on having to pay...
Does anyone have a link to anything online that spells out if those that purchased the Hub & Scout have to or don't have to pay the $12/year fee?
I bought 2 Hub and Scout Combos and activated before 12/31/2009 just in case they changed their policy. I have no idea if this was necessary, but I think I won't have any fees ever on them.

Thank you. This was exactly what I was looking for. Should I print that page out just in case they decide to pull it?

Won't do you any good because they can change the terms anytime they want:
(d) Notice and Changes: Our Services are subject to our business policies, practices and procedures, which can change at any time without notice. Unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law, we can change the Terms and Conditions of your Services at any time, with or without notice. Changes may include features and prices. If we do give you notice, it may be provided on your account web page, in a newsletter, by email, by telephone or other communication permitted under applicable law.
Ooma is just showing good faith by not changing the terms for the original Core product.
According to this page, you need to pay for Ooma Premier if you want to have 3-way calling, or be able to forward your calls. Pretty much every other VOIP provider includes this for free (including Magic Jack).
But it is also available at CompUSA with 12.5% BCB

I thought it was just Telo you had to upgrade for, not hub and scout. That's kind of a bummer, my wife is on call a lot so call forwarding is a must.

You can use http://www.grandcentral.com instead. You give your wife's work the grand central number and it will ring all of her phones when they call.
You can also do it with Google Voice. Trouble with that is if someone calls you back using their caller id, they're still going to reach the phone number you called from. I don't consider this an acceptable solution.

just pulled the trigger 199 -8.5%CB = 185.00 not bad i guess :/
Ooma has more than its share of problems if you read the support forums on the site. Slow porting. Local numbers not available. Features that don't work as described. Phone support with a shaky command of English. I'm a subscriber, but I'm not sure I would be if I had read the details first.

I have owned a telo for 2 months and I must say I am a happy camper. Much more reliable than Skype and sound great 98% of the time.

I love my ooma, porting was 3 weeks as expected, plenty of local numbers in the meantime. Quality is fantastic, $75/month phone bill gone forever
ShadowOCH said: Quality is fantastic, $75/month phone bill gone foreverI'm skeptical of the "forever" aspect of Ooma. I accept that it will be free as long as the company survives or until it is bought out by Google or Microsoft or eBay. Nothing in the tech world is forever.

It's posts like this that made me hesitate in buying it originally. Had I purchased this at product launch, 2.5 years ago, I would've already saved $2250 on phone bills.
No, it probably won't last forever, but they seem to be doing good enough for me. After just 3 months of use I have already earned back the purchase price plus some, and have no fears of the company disappearing as skeptics claim.

They are already making adjustments to increase income by requiring fees for enhanced services. Typical business model, get you familiar with their products and services, then introduce new models without the free services. I still have a Tevo where the basic service was free. They were sold on clearance when the new Tevos came out requiring fees for everything. I believe that the Ooma Core will easily pay for itself and everything after that is profit.
I'm happy with my Telo I just bought, but I'm not happy with having to purchase Premier to get basic features. They give you Premier for 60 days for free so I have it now. However, from what I understand I'll lose simple things like the name on incoming caller ID. This is nuts, they are not including it simply to push people to spend the $$$$. The Premier is priced too high for my taste.
The Telo works great, I'm using it with Grand Central and couldn't be happier with how well it works. It's much better than the Magic Jack (I had a MJ since they first came out).

I don't have Premier and I get caller ID with name. ALthough I activated my account in Nov 2009, i doubt they have changed the feature set. Give them a call.
I've had my Ooma Telo for a few months now, I really have nothing but great experiences with it. Saving me over $29.00 a month from my old home phone service.

Just curious, since you're a subscriber, has any of those issues plagued you? Trouble porting? getting a local number? Did you have issues with their phone support? I am a subscriber as well, I have 2 hubs and haven't had any issues. As with any product people will have problems because screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place.

If you are using two hubs, does that mean that you can have two telephone lines operating on the same high speed DSL??

Thank you. I currently have AT&T Uverse with 2 lines on the DSL. They said the max number of lines that can be carried by their DSL is 2. I will try importing one and if that works well, then I will go for the second line. The AT&T system has problems with my phone lines and they have never been able to correct the problems.

I have AT&T Elite DSL and am running two hubs and a scout, 3 lines total at the same time with no problem.

If I buy a hub and a scout, does that give me instant second line, or i still need to subscribe to premium features.
Just got my TD order . When I activated , it gave me 6 months (its 60 days normally) of free Premier included. That's a sweet deal !

Does anyone know the answer to this question?
The free port comes with a paid subscription. If you buy premier now to get the free port, subscription will be good for a year from the time your trial period ends.
