Received this info from friend, saw it on SD. Looks like legitimate. Considering to purchase using virtual credit card...
Oakland, CA Zoo - $40 family pass for the year • Unlimited admission 363 days of the year at the Oakland Zoo for up the two named, cardholding, adults (ages 18 and up) and any four children (ages 2-17) • Free parking at The Oakland Zoo for one vehicle • Free guest pass (for one-time use) for 2 adults and 2 children at The Oakland Zoo • Free (8) coupons for rides • Free admission to our Members' Nite event and subscription to Roar! the Zoo's newsletter • Discounts at the gift shop, for Zoo Camp, birthday parties, for Walk in the Wild, ZooLights, and other special events as well as to 125 zoos and aquariums nationwide
And note that 5% of your purchase goes to a preschool of your choice and another 5% for scholarships for children who otherwise could not afford to go to preschool.
P.S. Take the coupon to the Zoo before Sep 30, 2010 to redeem a full year pass, and you can get free parking on the first day you visit Oakland Zoo!!
So i can use this pass for 2 adults and 1 child and 1 guess (1 time) anytime during the year. Am i corrected? Thanks

Sounds like a deal. Last year I was member of zoo in Columbia, SC for about 70$ for the year which had reciprocity to all those other Zoo's. I found one in Asheville, NC though this year that had reciprocity to both zoos as well as science center/museums. If you have kids and take trips now and then these can save you a ton of money and provide nice stopping points along your trips to see some where you probably would not have stopped at otherwise.
Good deal for folks living near Oakland. Looks like for Happy Hollow etc there will only be 50% discount if you buy this membership. It would have been cool if there was free admissions to Happy Hollow like in the past , but i guess with all the renovation at Happy Hollow , they need more funds, understandably. You can take a reciprocal link which tells which zoo around the countries are free with this membership http://www.oaklandzoo.org/images/files/forms/reciprocity_list_2010.pdf
Reg admission for 2 adults and parking is $28. We have a 10 month old... Anthony, who will love the zoo, and also save 50% at the SF Zoo, and many other locations! Thanks!
Check the list of reciprocate Zoo's, even if you don't live near Oakland. If your local Zoo participates it may be cheaper to buy the Oakland membership than paying admission for a single family trip to your local zoo. This is deal has a much larger audience than you might think.

In the link it says How Savvy Savings Work We bring you a new "Savvy Savings" each week. Savvy Savings only get activated if the specified minimum number of people agree to purchase a specific deal - so tell your friends. If you purchase, we send you a link to your coupon - print it out and you're ready to go!"
Does anyone know what is the minimum number of people that need to purchase this ?

Thanks op!
The Oakland Zoo is great, my 2 1/2 year old loves it. I like it better than the SF Zoo because there is more room for the kids to run around and play when not looking at the animals.
Does any one know if the free guest pass requires the member to accompany the guest? In other words, if I become a member, can a friend's family go to zoo once using the guest pass without me?

I like how they list zoos in Illinois free with Oakland membership. They obviously don't bother to mention that those are free intrinsically, without any memberships.
I got one coupon. I got membership form to fill in and wait for the package to come with 2 weeks of extension. Can I go instead this week with the coupon? Will it still work? How to waive the parking fee (as it is already included it the membership and i don't have anything rather than the coupon code print out). Please help. Thanks in advance. Thanks OP!

Is this still valid? Can I still purchase the Oakland Zoo family membership for $40?
