Super ultra deluxe 8 track cassette player anyone, or will your iPod do?
Watches are like jewelry, you don't have to have it, but people like them. I tried my ipod at 90 feet deep scuba diving. didn't work that well, there are still reasons to have a watch, if all you are looking at is function, you are right, it probably is excessive. You can't justify any piece of jewelry if all you are looking at is functionality. You do realize they sell them in jewelry stores for a reason....right? Didn't see any cell phones there in the jewelry store.
I bought this back in Sept 09 thru LMVH F&F sale and paid $1800 then. Given that, this is really a good price.
The watch rocks overall, but it is a heavy watch. Also the side button gets pressed quite often inadvertently, thus putting the watch in the Chrono mode.
Ridiculous price. IMO Tags are very overpriced in general. Get a nice Tag replica for around $200, like http://www.watch-replica.net/replica_watches_tag_heuer/Tag_Heuer_Mercedes_Benz_SLR_TH_42.html EDIT: Note, link provided for reference only. I've never dealt with them and have no knowledge of their business. It was merely the first link I checked that had a Tag Mercedes replica.

Thank you for your point of view, it is well taken. I do not wear jewelery (other than my wedding band to gently show ladies that I made my vows) as I think that buying a toy for my son or a donation to needy is a better use of money. I should respect preferences of others though. After all I do recall a period in my life when jewelery seemed a necessity in finding a mate. I do get the impressions from several other posters that they visit FatWallet.com not because they are are concerned if their watch matches their scuba equipment 90 feet under water. Spend your money as your consciousness dictates you.

My local Mercedes dealer gave me one of these when I went in last month to purchase my annual fleet of 5 luxury cars (I hate the way cars smell once they get beyond one year old).
Anyway, it looked like a real piece of junk, so I just threw it away along with some filthy 20 dollar bills I received as change - I mean, who uses anything less than a $100 bill, seriously? Peasants

I am not worried about whether it matches my scuba equipment, but that it works underwater.
