A little bit of both. I own this thing and it's in my wallet at all times now. I've never actually used it, but in a pinch it would be more than useful or at least better than nothing. The metal is thick and sturdy, pretty nifty tool to have.
I've used mine a number of times, it is of decent quality. For a $1-2 item, well machined and decent stainless steel. Also $2.98 for a 2-pack on DealExtreme with comments, in case the deal ends.

Don't worry about the deal ending. It always comes back every few months.
For those of you with already bulging wallets; (from saving money here of course) you might want to hold off if you were expecting to get this into your wallet. I have a bi-fold with about 10 cards right now and there's virtually no way this thing will fit in there. And as others have noted it goes on sale almost monthly for the same price, so if you miss it today just wait a few weeks.
It's about as thick as three typical gift cards (no raised numbers).
Definitely handy to have in a glove box or purse, but it's just too thick for my wallet.
I can vouch for the utili-key, I have used the screwdriver and knife-blade many times when I was out&about and didn't have any real tools on hand. The best thing about it is that you don't even know it's there until you need it. Case in point: I was taking it through airport security for years, not even thinking about the fact that I had a knife on me. It was only last month that one of the TSA agents noticed it and, unfortunately, made me throw it away. I'll probably buy a few since I'll never remember to take it off before going to the airport and I rarely check a suitcase...

How did they spot it. I picked up this key plus a few other neat swiss army type of key rings in a package at Costco for only $20. Unless someone is really looking at the keys, they wouldn't spot it. Did they go specifically check out your keys, or did the TSA just happen to see it ?

The TSA managed to spot it in the x-ray machine, which was surprisingly good work on his part given that no TSA agents had spotted it through the machine for a couple of years, and I usually fly at least once a month. I guess if you're really scrutinizing keys you can tell it apart from regular keys somehow.

"If your ethnicity is not right, maybe a risky buy. If you're brown, and you forget to remove this from your wallet before airport securiy - you're probably headed for a long questioning" - a comment on Merritline site. Very true indeed!
Ordered mine January 22, haven't received anything yet. Just emailed them asking what's up.

I like the fact that they include the lanyard key ring hole as one of the 11 tools. Looks interesting though! It's never too early to start stocking up on stocking stuffers!
