I'm not sure it's worth the extra $85 for the Core 2 Quad, but I just thought I'd throw it out there for those intent on an Intel system. The other specs are pretty much identical.
The refurbs are actually HP Sealed. The boxes are from HP, sealed with HP Factory tape, and say HP Refurbished on the outside of the box. Its not like TD is doing the refurbishing.
On my order of 5, i placed them individually to get free shipping on each. Got BCB (at that time was only 8%). And they arrived the next day. I'm not sure what you're bi1ching about. theres no rebate involved either.
Personally I'm still waffling between buying one of these and spending a few hundred more to build a much better outfitted box. Right now I'm leaning towards this deal though.
11% better at 15% more? Dude, it's a Q8300 not 9300...
Also: the AMD's integrated Radeon graphics is probably +50% over the Intel X4500 video card. I think this will matter more for someone looking for a cheap casual-gaming machine or an HTPC with hardware-decoded 1080p.

Would love to put a Radeon 5770 in it, but I'm afraid the power supply would sputter and die...I just pulled the trigger. I was considering the 300W power supply as well, but you can always get a 750W power supply for $50. Do these take standard power supplies as upgrades? I know that in the past some Gateway/Dell/HP machines use custom power supplies that have different dimensions, so a standard one won't fit in the case.

Yes, I put a video card in mine and it killed the PS next time I went on vacation. It was very simple 10-minute replacement with a generic (and much beefier PS) and it's been excellent ever since.

Man, I am really tempted here. The motherboard on the last HP refurb I bought (from Buy.com) died after about a year so I am a little scared of the refurb.
where does the bing CashBack show up. I clicked through the bing CashBack link but don't see 15% anywhere. Does it show in checkout page.(I know I won't get the discount, just wanted to have a proof)
Bought one a month ago from TD . Like mentioned earlier it comes from HP and warranty is with HP also and mine looked brand new, it still had the clear plastic over front face plate . I origanally had second thoughts before I purchased it but now I am very pleased with it and TD. IT is not a beat up used machine. Still about a month before I get my CB but not worried. Don't forget the wireless N card with it also.

know enough to look, but not enough to make the decision, can anyone compare the posted unit to this one i found last night on revonate?
Buy.com has it for 469$ without tax. http://www.Buy.com/prod/HP-pavilion-p6230y-desktop-2-6-ghz-phenom-ii-x4-810-8gb-750gb/q/loc/101/214420036.html?adid=17992
not necessarily missed, my bing showing up for this has went back and forth, yesterday 8.3, this morning was at 15% for a second and had reached my debit limit for today, so when i went back to use CC, dropped back down to 8 again.
I bought a HP, HP refurbished from Buy.com a year or two ago and have had very good luck. looked like new. As far as upgrading and working inside the box it is a little tight but HP seems to be putting some effort into making their boxes easy to work on. Very easy to swap and upgrade hardware in general. Also well written and clear manuals and instructions for doing the work available online.
In general I hate name brand boxes and always tried to go white box because of the aggravation with non standard and proprietary hardware, goofy and bizarre case opening and similar headaches with name brand boxes. Some I believe were designed specifically to discourage opening and replacement of hardware. I've been impressed with this box.

I had a similar occurance w/ BING CB ordering a TV thru CompUSA few days ago. Thought it was a quark, but maybe IE gets higher percent off thru Microsoft's BING than FireFox.

It took me a while to "decrapify" it and remove all the bloatware, but overall I'm quite pleased with it. Now I'm just waiting for some DVD+R's to arrive so I can make recovery discs before I mess with it too much more.
The machine looks absolutely untouched, in perfect condition, as in not a single scratch anywhere. I'm quite pleased with the purchase.
Got mine as well. Mine looks great other than one USB port was pretty banged up on the back. I called TigerDirect and they are sending me a giftcard for 25$. That is enough for me. Ill be putting it towards a videocard i imagine.
