The windows starter edition sucks. It only allows a limited number of apps to run concurrently. This means you either go back to XP, run linux or find a windows 7 home version.

I think the $50 Dell EPP is for purchases $799 and above:

Thx for the AAA coupon idea. In for 1 of these -$25 for laptop <=$999. Keep in mind they charge an $8 State Environmental fee on top for orders to Cali.
This says a 6 cell battery too. Seems like a great deal and the $50 off Dell epp coupon I got on the 6th worked. Plus, did I read this model could be upgraded more than the v or some other difference? I didn't even notice when I ordered but because this is N450 is it going to have the "new" case look and hinge?

Starter edition has very limited customization options (cannot change your background wallpaper, for instance), also no dual-monitor support and no DVD movie playback support (although you'd need to be using an external DVD drive for this to apply here).
More over, the memory is not upgradeable. And I dont mean "I had to take apart my netbook completely, including removing the daughter board" I mean, not possible. So, that could be a bit rough.
That said, I like the screen on the 10 vs the 10v, and the built in 6 cell is pretty damn nice.

Hot Deal
Memory on the MINI 10 (1012) is upgradeable and located under the keyboard. There is a video of how to do it on youtube already. I think the older 1011 Mini 10 was not upgradeable.

I believe that is a video on youtube that show how the memory and HDD can be replaced/upgraded after the keyboard is removed. Bluetooth may not be possible because there is Dell does not include the connector for it.

Anyone have an extra $50 off coupon? If so, please PM me.
Wrong Mini 10....I don't know why Dell makes this so confusing. This model is the newest Mini 10 with the new Atom Processor. It is also known as the 1012. See here for more details 1012
How to get the $50 coupon? The ones I got are restricted to purchases over $799 and do not apply. These came from the Feb. EPP promo. Didn't get the March promo (and I'm one of the ones that distributes these out!)
tsankey said: good question (on how to get the coupon)? anyhow, Id love to have one...you are the one that distributes what?? the coupon??
I'm one of the ones that distributes the EPP promos to the employees when they come out. For some reason I never got the March one, which I believe had the link to register for the coupon.
Only go the AAA $25 one. Also, can't get free shipping - lowest is coming up is $8
Service guide shows how to replace the memory and add the optional video decoder. The comprehensive specs mention it (to support 1080p with the optional chip), but no mention of HDMI.
naturegirl said: found a link at SD for $50 EPP coupon, but off $799 now. Does anyone have the EPP coupon released in March without the $799 minimum? My kid needs something for school, but at $244 + S & H, tax this deal stinks!
Try to get the AAA for $25 off - Better than nothing. For me it's coming to $244 with tax/ship.
can anyone explain how to get the AAA exactly? Im a AAA member, but everytime I go to the Dell discount page and 'click' to get the coupons it just redirects me back to the AAA homepage, again, Im a AAA member...thanks!

I can't find the $25 off AAA coupon either and I'm a member too. I went to the AAA website and the only coupon listed was if you spend at least $999, which is worse!

how did you get the $25 off? How did you also manage free shipping? It's coming up as at least $8 for me.
molecule said: the back sticks out on these and is quite ugly, it's not hackintoshable, and the 1gb of ram is soldered. decent price for what it is though.
Ram is not soldered just a bit of a process to get to but certainly doable. They even tell you how in the manual.
I pulled the trigger, also. Unfortunately, I don't have a coupon and I live in TX where there is tax, so it's $264 shipped. Oh well, even at that price, it's still a good deal for this netbook right now.
