Can you please take them off the ree mailing list - they're as bad or worse than all the Kindle crap. Thanks - from someone who doesn't own either or any Apple product.

Only ones I know of are Topic Alerts, which users control...It may be a reference to the several garbage iphone freebies that Squonk posts every day. While it's true that a user could stop getting Topic Alerts completely, that's not really the answer. The answer is not to post things that aren't worth people's attention. The point of FW is not to be a dump of every freebie or price cut on the Interwebs, but rather to be deals, things of note, things that are worth the time to read the title.

The Free Stuff forum has been inundated with free apps for iPad/iPhone, and Kindle and Nook books. And this is at least the 3rd or 4th thread I've seen in this forum where someone complained about this. It is really quite annoying having a post for every free app or ebook. There is already a Kindle thread on Hot Deals. The mods really need to step it up on this. Maybe if they start locking the Kindle posts in FS and putting a note in to the OP asking them to post in the future in the existing thread in Hot Deals, that might help. Or create threads in FS just for posting all these ebooks and apps in.
Having a post for every fre@king free ebook or app is seriously annoying to many. If you check existing threads, there are as many red votes as there are green. The greens are from those who use the ebooks/apps, the reds are from those who are frustrated at yet another free ebook/app showing up in FS. Something needs to be done about this, one day there were over a dozen free Kindle books on the first two pages of FS, most posted by one poster. Add another half dozen Nook books, and over half-a-dozen iPad/iPhone apps, and its a no brainer why FW users are becoming increasingly annoyed, and you have frustrated members posting threads like this.
I agree with you 1000% SweetClover. This is a direct consequence of the badge system. The quality of the deals being posted in the hot deals forum, in particular, may be getting more frequent but the bulk of these additional posts are frivolous (obscure functionality, poorly written, poor reviews, unknown authors, etc.) and ignore the thread posting instructions to explain why you think a deal is hot. Most of these "drive-by" posts just include a link, and nothing else explaining why the author thought it post-worthy (even if their reasoning is wrong). Maybe it's time for a new forum: free electronic media. That would cover ebooks, mp3s, manuals, movies, podcasts, etc. that are available for free download or streaming (this would NOT include software, CDs, DVDs, or Bluray).
