A quick tip on the Hosts file: I've found that sometimes it appears to be empty when you first open it in notepad, but you may need to scroll down before you actually see the text. |

I have just found the solution to my recent problems with getting only a blank page when trying to click through FatCash.
I have no HOSTS file in use. I have made all the changes to Spybot and AdAware as mentioned in the OP. I did try disabling NAV, AdAware, Spybot and Spywareblaster with out any success. Then I found this while playing with Spybot's resident Program options.
There must have been an update to the resident portion of Spybot recently.(the Resident portion of Spybot is turned on/off in the Advanced Mode only, under Tools/Resident) If you change the SDHelper residentIE option (found by right clicking on the Spybot-SD Resident icon in the system tray) to "Block all bad pages silently" it will only display a blank page along with the Fatwallet tracking pop up. If the option is changed to "Display dialog when blocking" it will work as normal again.
What is strange is just exiting Spybot's resident program by right clicking the systray icon and choosing "Exit Spybot-S&D Resident" did not help fix the problem. Turning off the Resident SDHelper by unchecking the box under Tools/Resident in the Spybot program allowed the referral page from Staples to load but with a session expired error. Only changing the "Block all bad pages silently" option got things back to normal. |

I was wondering about some payment options which might affect CashBack.
1) Would a purchase made by paying with someoneelse's credit card(authorized use only) count towards Cash Back? Doesn't matter. What's important is you're logged in as you and complete the transaction online. Cash Back is based on your FatWallet username/account and doesn't depend on name, card, address, etc. Other details in Cash Back FAQ
2) If I redeem a gift card online after going through the FW link. Can I still earn CashBack? If yes, Would the Cash Back be on the total amount or the total obtained after subtracting the giftcard? This one's a little trickier. Gift cards are handled differently by each merchant. (They each set their own rules.) Some pay on purchase but not redemption, some on redemption but not purchase... and still others don't pay on purchase or redemption. Let us know on a Support Request if you want us to check it out ahead of time. |

Well, I certainly don't know what's going on with my FatCash. I've actually been having this problem for the past 2-3 years that I've been using FatCash. Of all the merchants that i use (or remember to use), the only problem I have had is with Priceline. I always receive FatCash for all my other purchases, notably OMax and OD. However, whenever I use Priceline, it's always been an issue. Sometimes I receive it, sometimes I don't. I remember the first couple of times it happened, I used the FatCash support and they manually entered the amount in for me, then investigated and Priceline declined paying any commission. (Thus I never received CashBack for those purchases). The Fatwallet CSR stated, it was probably something to do with my cookies blah blah. I didn't bother with trying to fix my computer, and I did some more Priceline purchases and lo and behold my FatCash comes up no problem. Then recently once again I do more purchases with Priceline and now, I require FatCash support as it doesn't show up on my account. Luckily these last couple of times, when the CSR investigated, Priceline has been agreeing that it's commissionable. I'm hoping that the FatCash comes up for yesterday's Priceline win, as I require it to bump me up to the $5 level for the extra Holiday FatCash.
Anyways, I went thru the FAQ and this thread and nothing was ever mentioned on intermittent FatCash problems with any particular merchant. I looked into my HOSTS file using the EDIT command in DOS and it didn't show anything unusual. I use XP Pro with AVG antivirus and Ad-aware. But I don't think those programs are affecting it as I would then have FatCash problems with ALL merchants, not just Priceline.
Anyways, any ideas????? Thanks!
My sincere apologies for Cash Back difficulties you've experienced with Priceline. It's very frustrating when there are inconsistencies. We will pursue resolution with them, and do all we can to bring them up to the performance of most Cash Back merchants (97% of transactions reporting without a hitch).
It is possible for only some merchants to be snagged by computer security programs as merchants each use one of four separate reporting networks. (You've read all about that earlier in this thread.) In your case, I don't have particular reason to suspect your PC. Please do let us know on Support Requests when there are problems as that will help us track down and solve any problems. |

DVDPlanet - the 30% Off Top 25 Releases link on the DVDPlanet Stores page throws a Page Cannot Be Displayed error. I cut and pasted the resulting URL, below, but had to substitute a# for the F because the word filter didn;t like the url.

hmmm, maybe their site is down...none of the links work. |

Sometimes there are so many links to go through to buy something, that what I do is I put the item in my shopping cart, then come back to FW, & go through FatCash link & check out. Do I still get the FC this way? I was wondering cause I bought something about 3 months ago & it doesn't show up in my FC acct yet.... |

I've been going through FatCash a lot for my hilton.com bookings.\\
Everytime I go through, FW's travel agent code of 20180 (i think that is you) is added to my confirmation.
But I wait 4 weeks after the stay, and nothing shows up. Is this something that I'm doing wrong? The same thing always happens for me with Priceline.com, so I have to fill out a support ticket.
But everywhere else I shop (Staples, Dell, etc) comes through fine.
Any ideas?
Hmmm... Good questions. I'm not so sure where that code is being attached; not something I recognize. However, I can say that some travel merchants (e.g. Priceline) have a lower incidence of accurate reporting than our overall average. That is, while we expect one or two or even three percent of transactions to require manual entries, Priceline has been automatically reporting at only about 90%. Whether it's something about their data processing or ours, seems it's not quite as reliable/compatible. There's also the chance something in their shopping process veers our customers away from completing a Cash Back transaction somehow. We don't have enough data for Hilton.com to analyze right now but will look into it further. I hope you'll remain patient with us and the travel merchants, and let us manually credit you when necessary.
Thanks!
note: my edit was of FW's travel agent code, which is 20180, not 02180 as i first reported. thanks for the reply. |

Hi guys,
I bought an XPS M140 approximately a month ago from Dell home. I never received my FatCash, and am about to fill in a request of investigation form. I am, however, having a few problems with it.
1. laptop came with a free DJ Ditty, but on my Dell history order was split into two orders, with the Ditty being allocated $8. how do I deal with the two different order numbers when filling in the support request form? And do I use the total as the total price or the total minus the $8?
2. I'm trying to figure out the actual dollar amounts for each box I need to fill in on the request form, since I no longer have the email confirmation (and no other way to access the exact dollar breakdown of the transaction). I'm assuming the $24 shipping/handling gets taxed (?), but more importantly, does the tax get applied before or after the 2% DPA CashBack .
3. Though I will try to generate the amounts as accurately as possible, will there be a problem if they arent correct down to the cent?
thanks in advance for any help guys/gals/staff.
Dangit! Getting orders changed, split, etc is a pain, isn't it? I'm sure you've submitted your support request by now, but for your sake and others here's my advice. Simply fill in the support request form the best you can and explain special circumstances in the narrative. It's our job to get you your cash, so we'll communicate quickly and thoroughly to get answers and present a case to Dell. Accurate information from you helps us resolve the issue, but we will work with what you have. Going forward, it is best to keep your Order Acknowledgment and Order Confirmation to help with any problems. Tax and shipping are not included in any Cash Back calculations. Good luck. We're here for you! |
