Here is yet another...
The subject of a subscription email: FatWallet subscription update - M&ms Ultimate M-pire Collection Sweepstakes 5/27/05
The thread title: M&ms Ultimate M-pire Collection Sweepstakes 5/27/05
The characters don't convert back to normal. Does this have to do with some type of escape()/unescape() encoding error?
grrr... when I type & amp ; (just without spaces, the characters are automaticly encoded, so it's hard to show the actual subject) |

It would be nice if the developers got rid of the separate http and https buttons and just have one button.
Also, it would be nice if the link appeared where the cursor was instead of at the very end of the messages; cutting and pasting every time you link is annoying. |

You may want to update the artwork on the first screen...for example, $190 for a 17" LCD is no longer a hot deal. |

I'd like to see Hot Deals split up into 2 forums: Electronic Hot Deals (PC parts, audio/video, all electronic gadgets) Other Hot Deals (flower codes, clothing sales, non-electronic deals)
I know most of the time i'm looking for a non-electronic hot deal and it's pretty hard to search thru all the PC part threads to see if there is anything non-electronic on sale.
Thats my opinion! |

How about adding more status graphics. in addition to "Hot", "Dead", "Locked" to show what is going on with a particular topic (such as "under moderation")?
What happened recently was that in the Hot Deals forum, a new topic was started that had a very hot Dell deal. People started begging for coupon codes and the thread was suspended from new posts since the mod had to "clean it up". The whole process took more than 20 minutes and the deal died in the meantime. Peeps got very upset crying consipiracy that FW notified Dell about this deal and "disabling" new posts. It took the mods quite a while to calm everyone down and explain what actually happened. Confusion, emotional outbursts and conspirarcy theories could have been avoided if posters had known what was going on. |

On SD, when you have a sub to a topic and someone posts in it, it sends you the message as well as who posted when you get the sub email. I find it really convenient, since I don't have to go to the thread just to look at one post.
Would it be possible to do that here? |

When a new message is posted to a subscribed topic I'd like the link to go directly to that message. This may not be feasible now, but I can wait, just not forever. |

How about the quick summary either:
a) shows up on all pages OR b) shows up on the first and last page of a thread? |

I think the One Time Use Coupons forum should be available to members only. too many lurkers are using coupons that members are kind enough to post there. |

When using advanced search, 'search message body', it'd be useful to have a link for each result that goes straight to the post ('Go to Post'), instead of the general thread. Text-only then control-F is the workaround, but it seems so obscure. All the posts already have html name tags... Or maybe this exists already and I'm blind and can't see it?
Thanks for listening. |

Could the default boxes for HTTP and HTTPS elements be modified not to include http:// and https:// respectively? I am sick and tired of seeing the endless http://http://www... and https://http://www... links pop up and redirect me to microsoft, google or whoever else latched onto those bad URLs. Really, what purpose those stubs serve? They are only useful if you are typing URLs and nobody does that. It is all copy and paste. Even senior members post bad links.
One would think "preview" button would be enough to let people check their crap (excellent, excellent option, BTW). But it seems like many people don't bother.
Of course, better solution would be for board software to check for that and strip the extra http:// or https://, but that is likely more work. |

But I think that they should still keep the buttons and add auto linking in addition because many members still use the linking buttions. If they still keep the linking buttons, just make one button that says link (no need for all three). It is a bit annoying to always get redirected to paypal. Also, when was the last time that someone used the mail linking button? I don't remember ever seeing anyone use it. |

The relatively new feature to allow you not to get email each time a new post is made to a subscibed topic is great. However, if you never go back to the post, you never get another subscription reminder, AND there is no indication in the subscription list that this has taken place. You should either change it to email once a day (i.e., reset the "don't tell me flag") or give some indication in the subscription thread (via an * or something) that notifications are not being sent because you did not visit the thread.
Also, whe you do a search on topics, you don't see who the last poster was like you do in the normal list. |
