I want the red. I don't want to read every thread. This is such a funny move. |

I think the old way was best. The reason is usually when I read through the forum postings I can skim through and instantly spot hot deals based on their rating and then also ignore bad deals based on extreme red - such as a scam site or a bad information, etc. Today when I read through it took a lot longer since now I had to read each title to decide on what may or not be a good deal. I can understand that like you stated earlier that some peope abuse the voting system, but I bet the percentage of those that do is low compared to the percentage of people that genuinely vote a post on its merit. I don't think the new way with green only is a solution to a problem that quite honestly, never existed. I think it would be a good decision to bring back the old voting system, as it worked well for everyone here at FW. |

But having said that.....
If this rating system -which BTW was thrust upon your user base in a stupid manner- is not changed I will lead a charge that all long time users "boost" every thread no matter how stupid; rendering the feature useless.
We can probably not effectivly boycott the system as newbies will still be "boosting" away. But we can however render it worthless.
Are you going to ban us all?

FW, you've already done a great deal of damage to yourself with this stupid move. If you don't bring back the old rating system soon BEFORE you decide your next steps, you're gonna lose a lot more than you'd imagine.
Note: Some people viewed this message as a threat. But if you know that there's a growing thread welcoming FWer over at SD, you might want to think twice about what I said. |

To be honest, I liked the +/- system better than anything I have seen on any forum before. I almost prefer nothing to the + only ratings...+ only indicates everything is good in some way...whereas with no rating, people remember they are on an internet forum and need to read the entire thread to understand all the information and that they need to take everything they read on the internet with a grain of salt.
But a more elaborate +/- system is the only way to improve from the old +/- system. Maybe something that indicated when there were only a couple of - votes with a lot of + votes or a lot of + votes only, a lot of - votes only, or a few of each. Perhaps including a reason why people gave it a +/- would help, too. |

if any members were banned due to this b.s. in the name of 'improvement' That in itself is wrong. But I won't comment more on mods power here. because the sword is swift and sharp |

beg your pardon? did you check the other thread for the overwhelming concurrence on the usefulness of the red (i.e. boot with no s in it) button? there is NO diff of opinion in the majority. and that is OBVIOUS from the other thread. now since you dont have a red rating to glance at, poor mods will have to read thru every single post to find out what the users really said (as a one-time favor, i am letting you know. BRING BACK THE RED). is it clear now how the red would have helped?

Obviously, there are some differences of opinion as to what "better" is.

I agree with people who think that one must reply to a thread before being able to rate that thread. |

My recommendation in the other thread is to put a required comment on your rating. So when you look at the rating page, you know why the person voted that way. |

I don't see how requiring flaggers to post before they rate would help. There might be an assumption that the posts will be constructive but more likely we'll see a dozen "good deal" or "this deal is cold" posts. The just makes the amount of replies to read on a deal longer but not better. |

I disagree, set your filters, i hate seeing some idiot bump a dead thread to tell us he got his rebate more than red threads. It would stop cowardly childish red abuse. |
