I'm not sure but I think people want the old system back.
I can't be positive but that's my hunch. |

deshwasi said:beg your pardon? did you check the other thread for the overwhelming concurrence on the usefulness of the red (i.e. boot with no s in it) button? there is NO diff of opinion in the majority. and that is OBVIOUS from the other thread. now since you dont have a red rating to glance at, poor mods will have to read thru every single post to find out what the users really said (as a one-time favor, i am letting you know. BRING BACK THE RED). is it clear now how the red would have helped?
+1, because I can't give it green. |

I know not all users have their Red/Green votes counted, just apply that to the habitual abusers and we are good to go. Also, like another member said, perhaps ask and poll what new changes you plan to make BEFORE making them.
I agree with all of this... the red/green really is a good system... just needs a few checks and balances. |

Tim,
Can you define the problems with the current system as FW sees it, because I didn't have a problem with the old ratings system?
The issues that I have seen brought up are:
1) Who has rating power and how much etc,? To me it not's an issue, but some take it personally.
2) Deals that are redded to hide them for a short time, until other users green them? Again, the good FW'ers out there are doing their best to unhide the deals
3) Personal attacks using red.
Are there other issues you are trying to correct in the rating system? Obviously, the easy solution was to get rid of red, and give everyone equal voting power.

We should have a 0-9 scale for hotness of a deal. It should be numerical and not a bar. |

I like the red/green rating system much better than green/green system. |

Tim, here are my thoughts on changes to the system
When you vote green or red you will also need to choose a reason from a list of maybe 5 choices.
For example
Green:
Hot price, great item, I am giving this green because I like the seller, Green because I like the poster, etc ...
Red:
Terrible price, bad product, I don't like the seller, I don't like the poster, etc ...
Now a formula could be used to calculate the overall rating level or the selections could be used as a filter method.
Yes there will always be a few idiots who will try to sabatoge the system but that is the nature of the net.
On the topic pages the total number of green or red votes should be presented to the right of the colored bar or imbedded in the image itself to make it easier for users to know which are the really hot or cold deals. |

What would that help? The old system had a number scale built in. |

It's baffling that you tried this. We asked you not to screw around with the ratings after you removed ratings from replies. How many people got banned today because of a stupid change that no one wanted? Pointless. |

1. Bring back the red. 2. Reinstate everyone who was banned today.
Actually, reverse the order of those. |

Thanks for listening chief! I am not sure of the reason why "red" was removed but explanation given was not convincing enough to me. It is good have red / green and let the users decide how they want to rate a thread. Giving only one option (Green) makes it a one sided opinion. There are other ways to get rid abusive "red" people like suspending voting power. If the majority are abusing red, I would agree with the approach taken but this is not happending in HD forums atleast. |

I just glanced over the quick summary. Ratings on OP only could help, but then what about the arguements and stuff that happen within posts? And those people who post incorrect information? |

Hey guys, at least the Mods heard us. Let's just give the modes some time, and I am sure the green/red system will come back. Thanks Tim! |

You guys say the old system was not working.
The voters say it was.
The no ratings is about as useful as the "boost" system.
I spend a lot of time and money on FatWallet. I have just been recently reflecting how significant my FatCash Cash Back numbers are looking.
Just remember, there are other Cash Back options available elsewhere.
Bring back the RED. |
