This would be easy to implement if true threading were added within FW topics, but for now it could be a thread in this forum, or a separate forum available only to SMEs.
This is similar to the "discussion" page on wikipedia article, and I believe Kuro5hin/scoop has a feature like this for separate editorial discussion. Still need to alert the moderator. No one even a special person in finance knows all the information in finance. If you see a post that is locked with a link to a thread, and you think that another link is need, or the moderators message is unclear then let us know, and we can change it. I was addressing the suggestion that said we should be able to edit moderator message. The moderator do have the ability to edit the moderator message. Let us know. Edit by Moderator: I can edit this message to say whatever is needed. FAQ

I like your idea, and it has been brought up before. I just mentioned last Thursday about maybe assigning moderators to a forum in addition to their regular duties. Making it their responsibility to get to know the community in that forum. We have also talked about having lead users of a forum have some form of acknowledgment on the title, and possibly access to some moderation resources. This was my solution on how FatWallet the company can keep that small feel, and be more involved with segments of our community. We are getting big enough that no one can be an expert across all the forums. IMO |

I like the idea of having a content/member specialist, for lack of a better description. There is no doubt that some of the moderation staff know more about some forums than others. It could also help avoid having to step on that person's toes by asking another staff member for an explanation about why someone else did what they did. Many of us have had things reversed based on decisions someone else made that may have been incorrect. |

jray225 said:2. Disagree, this causes mod shopping, and "this moderator doesn't like me" issues. If the moderator chooses to let you know, then that is their choice. I would like to see a reply button to the message that allows you to respond to the original moderator alert, and then have it opened backup for the moderation staff to review.
I doubt it, it really shouldn't matter. If a mod makes the right decision, even if I don't like it, I'm not gonna say the mod doesn't like me. I know for a fact that the mods I like most delete the majority of my posts that get deleted. Just because they delete my posts (which should be deleted according to the rules here), doesn't mean I don't like them. But the main thing with knowing who's talking to you is building a working relationship with people. If you don't know who you're talking to, it's very impersonal.
3. Yes and no. I have no problem with you knowing who we are, but there is a process for getting issues addressed correctly. That is using alert moderator to a message, or sending in a support ticket for bigger issues. Then it can be logged correctly and forwarded to the correct people. Well, knowing who's who is more so to know the people and who does what, not necessarily avoiding "the process"... |

I'd like to see FW implement a "tar pit" option to be used on anyone who posts scams. The key is to track the incoming IP address along with user ID. When a user posts one of those scam $500 gift cards the mod would not only delete the post but add them to the "tar pit" list. The goal isn't to ban the user, merely eradicate his/her posts. So in future when they come to post again, they can type and submit their post, but it would never show up in the forum. Being low-life scum they'll probably just move onto the next forum to post again without ever noticing their post silently disappeared. |

I'd like to see a WYSIWYG user interface for posts that will allow different fonts, including fixed-width fonts. The current option of using the code tags requires guesswork and constant previews in order to ensure the text lines up. This makes one of the most easily read rate Quick Summaries, located in the FWF Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts Thread the hardest to maintain. Thanks. |

For example: http://testing-blogger-beta.blogspot.com/2006/10/testing-embeding-zoho-spreadsheet-into.html If the FW staff doesn't want to roll out this feature globally, it should be pretty easy for a mod to add the spreadsheet code to just the High APY thread. |

If the FW staff doesn't want to roll out this feature globally, it should be pretty easy for a mod to add the spreadsheet code to just the High APY thread. There have been a number of occasions where I simply wanted the text on different lines to be aligned properly, or to use more than one space consecutively. While your suggestion of allowing embedded spreadsheets is a good one, I don't want to always have to use one in order to accomplish this. I'd even settle just for a fixed-width font WYSIWYG option to replace the code tags. |

An interesting suggestion, but I haven't figured out how to do this for fixed-width text and the tags that FW uses, especially the http and https tags. I've converted the [ and ] to < and >, but apparently FW doesn't use pure HTML even with that modification. And I'm getting error messages from notepad saying there are incompatibilities between plain text and some of the formatting I'm using. There are no issues when I post on FWF, using these features, of course. |

Can you check for blank lines at the beginning of a post and delete them before posting the thread? Look at this numbskull's post: link. |

It would be great to have the option to mark PM's as "unread" after you read them; sometimes you have time to read a PM but not respond to it. It would be helpful as a reminder to reply later if it still appeared unread. |

IMHO the forums nav should be for choosing a forum, and that's it. There's plenty of room in modern to reproduce the "forum tools" bar from classic (new topic/customize/user profile/today). |

It would be nice if the actual message (from OP) can be included as a header on each subsequent page on all the threads. Probably, not in it's entirety but at least some of it with a link to expand it. |

It should definitely be off by default |

I suggest... Dell Small Business go back to giving 2% as the other place does. |
