Just a little something we'd had the ability to do, but hadn't really tried.

Any thoughts, anyone? Cool? Lame? Let us know!

The 2 in HD currently both are CashBack sales but are different colors, leading me to believe they should have different purposes. Are the colors used supposed to indicate something? Like, is light blue to be giveaways, light green Cash Back sales, etc? There should be some rhyme or reason, but with the limited examples there doesn't appear to be.

Not sure yet how useful they will be. Don't really see a need for a color bar to ID a staff-posted thread, if that's what they are meant for, but then I know most of the posting staff IDs, whereas newer members may need a visual cue. Might it make sense (again, if that is the purpose) to use the same greenish color used inside threads to ID staff posts? Design consistency is a good thing.

Heh, tlaxson, I agree...consistency is a good thing. Really, we didn't have more of a rhyme nor reason for trying this quickly than to see how it impacted views. If we chose to go forward using this type of visual cue, we'd certainly have a color code.

That one the Dept. of Homeland Security seems to work pretty well...

OP overhauled to the following:

Here's what's cookin' the second half of Winter... (Come on, spring!)

  • Phase I of SEARCH improvements complete. Phase II coming ASAP.
  • Working on improving our homepage, top navigation, and main forums and shopping pages to improve (period), to increase conversion (viewers --> members), and to accommodate a new feature. Watch for it!
  • Since our mission is to serve consumers, we're exploring solutions to complete you as smart consumers.
  • We're increasing our design and development horsepower (hiring).
  • Finally, we're re-doubling our efforts to hear from you and find ways to delight you. Our one-question survey gives us some clues how well we're meeting our promise to provide a rewarding consumer community, and we'll be working harder at following up more in-depth with more of you.

Please feel free to PM me any time with delights, frustrations, and ideas (or just to say "Hi").

Let's celebrate accomplishments!
