Yes, it's strange that the entire post went away. I thought we were supposed to check back and the winner would be listed on the initial post.

Yep, contest is over. I'm not sure what happens next. (Not in that loop, ya know.)

Where should we move it? Fatwallet?

The winner will be chosen and notified tomorrow, and we'll put the thread back somewhere public

If I closed little banner at the top, how do I bring it back? The one that said "laptop giveaway" and "mothers day such and such"?

This contest is no different than any other contest, when the promotion is over they remove the thread. The only exception is the Thanksgiving to Christmas promotion when all the giveaways are lumped into one thread. You should be fitted for your tin-foil hat.

The contest thread is here in the FatWallet forum.

The winner has been chosen and notified. We will post the winner once he/she responds and is proven eligible.

The thread is back. Maybe you could explain the tin-foil hat fitting for those of us that just don't understand.

Thread deletion should only happen to get rid of spam.I'm not 100% sure if this is the reason but it is however reasonable. We do not have an auto-lock feature for topics but we do have an auto-move feature for topics. I am assuming that to stop entries when the giveaway was over the topic was scheduled to be moved to a non-public forum at midnight on the last day of the giveaway.

There is absolutely no way that the topic was deleted. Even spam is never deleted.

I'd say to leave it in the same thread where it was posted ("Hot Deals") and simply lock it and sticky it to the top. That way, people will know where to look for the winner's name.

I checked early the next morning, after the deadline, and noticed posts were still being allowed. I thought this was strange. The reason I was checking was the contest post told the entrants to check immediately following the deadline for the announcement of the winner.

Then I checked in the afternoon that day and couldn't find the post anywhere. It was wierd, because of the specific instructions in the contest post. I looked real hard, even checked things like my google cache to verify my assumptions. It was no where to be found.

I never did believe the post was deleted. Only assumed it must be hidden away somewhere.

Tried to get some information yesterday and the staff working was out of the contest loop. Oh well. Everythings back today and I didn't win. Darn!

Hello? Fatwallet? Did you announce who won this? I don't see the thread or any announcement anywhere...
