Hot Deals V2 in beta

Many of your suggestions have been implemented in V2.
Please look and comment before we continue, and note what version you've been using.

So far, we…
• Reduced bright white and added alternating grays.
• Made search options visible.
• Kept hot deals custom view, but made it completely collapsible.
• Kept custom forum navigation, and added a forums dropdown.
• Kept notice of unread replies, and returned last poster and time.
• Returned to a more readable text and indication of topics read.
• Made titles wrap instead of requiring a scroll.
• Moved avatars to the left column.
• Streamlined messages to fit more posts per inch.
• Darkened locked topic font.
• Added Private Message buttons.
• Showed first level of hot deals product categories.
• Improved functionality of Deal Type choices.

*This feedback thread will pop for limited times into hot deals to direct more eyes to V2 in beta, then move back to FatWallet forum for continued discussion. Hoping this will help us manage volume of feedback so we can give it all due consideration.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
• Speed will improve once out of beta.
• Custom color themes will be fully functional once out of beta. For now, set your preferences to "default" color for accurate testing.
• There will be a modern/classic toggle once out of beta. Simply return to www.fatwallet.com for your original preferences.

Would like the {First 12} {Previous 12} {Next 12} buttons be on the left side vs right side.

Same for the {jump to} page #'s within a thread

I will definitely go for this one never liked the old modern

When I mouse over the skeleton icon / stop icon / - / + rating it does not show the text for mouse over.

I've been using the Beta version for a few weeks now. My initial reaction was negative, but after configuring it to my preference, I've become a convert.

I don't see the "last page" link in any version but classic. That's my main reason for not switching.

I liked in Modern you moved the Member name and Avatar as a small top bar. Now it looks a little more cluttered (and a lot more like SD... ick!) It's not terrible, but even if you downplayed the avatar column a little more, like how it was in the classic view, it would put more focus on the content instead of the avatars.

If you click on the flag, there's no way of knowing who voted red or green. This is not a step in the right direction. Sticking with Classic, just like my Coca-Cola.

The layout of the Modern message thread view is still a step backwards. Here's why:

Notice how the same amount of content takes more vertical space in the Modern message view?
That's a bad thing.

Also, the change from the "boxed" look to the more horizontal look, you've made it more difficult for someone to read a thread. This is because in-between each message of a thread is a bar with the poster's information. This information used to be to the left, but it now interrupts each message as you read down the page.
This is a bad thing.

I clicked on one of teh forums (Sprint SERO.... ) and saw one of the posts' poster section with poster name/info etc flash yellow briefly and then back to normal. Is that some sort of feature ?

I like this version much better than the modern - the white was too overwhelming on the modern and was the main reason I opted out

Not a feature - hopefully that's just a temporary hiccup while your browser fetches the latest stylesheet for the page. If it continues, please let us know.

Does that if you link to a particular post too.

How do you get rid of the vertical views bar on the left? You have a screenshot of "views closed" but I can't figure out how to do it.

First, you have to be in Beta to do it, not modern. Then there is an [x] to the left of the word 'views' at the top of the views sidebar. Click that and say goodbye to the sidebar.

It can be re-opened by clicking [< views] next to the title search then.

Ahhhhhhhh OK. Thanks.

The X is tiny, light grey on grey and difficult to see. My suggestion is to make it a bit more prominent.
