Why a coupon trading subforum when there isn't coupon trading/selling allowed elsewhere on FW? Posts begging for coupons are removed and threads with begging are placed under moderation. Trading/selling is specifically prohibited in the coupon wording of 99% of manufacturer's coupons: "Void if reproduced, transferred, purchased or sold" or similar restrictive words. And invariably, the begging threads, "In desperate search of xyz coupons" are "accidently" posted in the wrong subforum by the same people multiple times. It gets old quickly. |

shopliftinginva said:When you say more categorization of "Free", do you mean in a grocery forum, or in free stuff? I was thinking in terms of a grocery forum setup, since there are so many different ways to obtain free: after coupons, after rebates.... or even zero-sum transactions like getting rewards that offset what you pay at the register. Free Stuff forum categorization isn't something that's on the table just yet, I don't believe. |

I don't mind trading, we both know the arguments about how the word "transferred" is or could be interpreted. But I do know that there would be a bunch of .com coupon begging and trading on the GC board...that would suck. I wouldn't want to see selling, though. |

Honestly, I think its too little, too late. I came to Fat Wallet as an active couponer about five years ago when Fat Wallet had a rockin coupon forum. Then, by popular demand, they opened a trading forum. Then the powers that be decided that the couponers were sort of there own subgroup and didn't contribute much to the rest of Fat Wallet in terms of advertising dollars, Fat Cash, etc. so the coupon forum and the coupon trading forum were shut down. Although we couponers whined, groaned, complained, and begged Fat Wallet not to shut down those two forums, looking back it was the best thing that could have ever happened to us. Several sites were opened by couponers for couponers and have since evolved beautifully in a way that Fat Wallet never could because of the limitations of the format and because Fat Wallet is not run and moderated by couponers, so it was impossible for them to police, support, and meet the needs of the couponers. So, I'm sure the powers that be here at Fat Wallet are seeing the success of several sites that are owned, run by, or populated by many of the couponers that came from Fat Wallet and thinking they can open a coupon forum, the couponers will return, and they can start seeing the revenue, but I doubt it will happen that way. It's sort of like asking someone to give up their ipod for a CD player. Times have changed and people have moved on. |

And yet, berlinsmommy...you are still here. I believe FW is trying out a nifty idea about "listening to what the community wants". Hands down out of all the catergories that have been taken away in FW's history, GC was the most desired from the community. I wouldn't read into this that FW was ever hurting from the lack of having the GC board before it was, or after it was gone. |

lots of us "hardcore grocery couponers" still come here for the online deals. I sure as heck won't be coming here for my coupons, though. There are too many other sites already established who do a much better job than ya'll ever did. |

Is it the fact that because you and your other couponers have left and found your own coupon utopias, FW shouldn't start a new GC Forum? Isn't that a fairly narcissistic viewpoint? It's great that you've found your own coupon place. We're all very happy for you. Really we are. We couldn't have been more pleased when you all left. I think the question was, "We want to bring back the Grocery Coupon forum. We have an idea on what we want to do, but we would like your input on what you would like..." Perhaps you'd like to add helpful insight to that topic since it's obvious that you've help create such a successful couponing site that you couldn't think of leaving.

Personally, I don't think this move was motivated by wanting the old problems/GC members coming back, I believe it is being considered to accommodate the requests of active members and to possibly recruit new members. If some of the old contributing members of that forum want to come back, that is just a bonus. The old forum and old problems was closed down for a reason. I don't see the new forum being allowed to head in that direction ever again. Pyeed to add that not all of the people that left won't come back. Some people are only at the other "rocking" sites because they had no choice, not all of them care for the problem people that left here for those sites and I think some of those people will venture back, if not full time, they will be checking in to be nosy. And it's a joke if a certain person posting their opinions in this thread wants us to think she won't be checking the new GC forum here, she will. |

On categories: would be good to give Pets their own category, as you either have them or you don't. Perhaps same for Baby stuff. As an avid Walgreens and CVS shopper, I do all health & beauty stuff there. Just passing it on... I would definitely would benefit from a product-based coupon search. I can go to several different stores, but usually end up wherever I happen to and only then figure out what to buy. Thanks. |

From the looks of it, her friends are checking with anticipation as well. It's got around to most of the couponing boards. Some from what I see here are pooping a pickle and shouting it from the rooftops that their site might see a decrease in traffic or just more competition. I wondered why FW waited so long. I'll just watch from the sidelines eating a snickers bar for breakfast. |
