As many have stated today, it is hard to differentiate between what you've read and what you haven't. Any way of making one or other other of the options bold (either threads you've read or threads you haven't?).

Other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever. Ya'll did a great job implementing things requested.

Thank you

We are struggling on two levels with the 'read' indication. First, we're tackling a bug where it's not reliably working to show the color change.
Second, we removed the bold by popular request... obviously not unanimous request. I'm sure we'll get to a good solution.

I wasn't aware there had been a problem with bold. I'm sure ya'll have something up your sleeves to tweak it a bit to more easily distinguish between read and unread threads.

What happened to the dropdown box for forum switch?

SUB said:What happened to the dropdown box for forum switch? In modern it's in the customizable menu bar. Click edit and move it to the bar on your desktop.

ETA: It's there in classic view also.

menu bar != dropdown box...

I count 17 different items in the dropdown box. I surely won't put all of them in the customizable menu bar.

I don't know if this is related to today's update but the link to the new post in the "FatWallet subscription update" e-mail now takes me to the OP instead of the post the e-mail was triggered by. What gives?

Edit: it's an interesting observation that all of the posters in this thread so far are either "tired" or "cranky" members (with the exception of OP, of course, whose avatar suggests the opposite )

One of those 17 items is a drop-down box. Just drag it to the menu bar and save, and you'll have a drop down box to select any forum you want.

I'm seeing this now too.

edit - And, I'll add a "me too" on the point of wanting to see the difference between an unread thread and a thread with new posts.

Grumpy member chimes in:

The ratings bar still shows green when nobody has rated the post. ("Still shows" because we pointed this out during beta test.)

In order to find out the rating and/or who rated it, I have to place my cursor well to the right of the end of the green bar rather than on the green as I used to.

Thanks, we'll wrestle that rascally ratings bar down yet. Keep in touch!

gotcha, that works.

Can we PLEASE get a popup that gives you the 1st few lines of a post without clicking the link? THis might limit traffic and help with your bandwidth, and help us more accurately see if we want to click it.

For example, in the hot deals forum. If I hover over a thread saying "FREAKIN HOT DEAL" (named horribly) and I click, the post is "Dog for for $1". If I have no dog, I wouldnt have waste time and click on it if it would popup allowing me to preview the 1st post..

With the new look of the forum, how come when I am logged in, the ratings icons beside each message are very short, to the point where you can't really see what has a good rating. When I log out, the ratings expand and look like normal (or like they used to)?

The "new" modern seems to be an improvement over the old modern view, but I'll still be sticking with classic for now.

The favorite and not interested topic icon buttons that only display when you are hovering over a topic are very distracting when wheel scrolling through the list of topics. These icons display and hide as each topic passes the mouse pointer as you scroll down the page with the mouse wheel. This is very distracting when trying to read through the topics. My eyes are usually reading down the list as I am scrolling and the icons scrolling on the left side of the screen draw attention away from reading the topics. This problem is made worse because of the larger spacing of the modern view that requires even more scrolling. This feature doesn't seem to add much/any benefit since the space is generally just blank when the icons aren't there anyway (unless the thread is locked or stickied). It seems like they could just be there all the time for all the topics on the page. This one thing is a deal breaker for me and would keep me on classic view no matter what else was changed on the modern view. I suspect it comes from trying to save space for when the views area is displayed.

The font and lack of underline for the topic titles in the topic list seems to make it harder to read for some reason, though I can't really put my finger on why. I suspect it may have something to do with the increased spacing which makes the eye have to move farther to scan to the next topic title. It makes the topic titles seem a little isolated/bare and less eye catching (mostly just when the views area hidden).

Having a classic style "last page" link or maybe a "first unread" link at the end of each topic title would be more convenient than going over to the right side. I want to click near where I am reading the titles. I don't want to have to scan my eyes all the way over to the right side to click on the replies or last post lines. These options are also too close to each other which makes quick mouse selection difficult without slowing down and carefully positioning the mouse pointer before clicking.

The topic listing layout actually ends up being more usable when the views area is displayed since it compresses the topic area a bit and allows for less left to right scanning of the eyes. It seems like too many sacrifices were made to the actual content area of the page to allow for the space that the views area takes up when it is displayed. The whole page format should change when the views area is hidden to make use of the extra space. Right now, all that happens is everything gets more spread out which just makes it harder to read.

Once you're in a topic, there is no next button for the next page of threads. I like always going to the same spot/word to get to the next page. Having to differentiate between which page number to click seems like an unnecessary step/thought. Any reason why there couldn't be nice big next/previous buttons like the topic listing pages have? Maybe additional next/previous/last buttons could be placed on the unused left side where the page numbers/next used to be on the classic view.

Quotes are now more attractive, but they seem to be a bit more distracting when scanning through a topic. This is something I could probably get used to though.

I set to MODERN VIEW in my preferences but everytime I revist FW, it resets back to the classic view.

Is this a bug or just part of the testing?

In Classic view, There is a status indicator to show me which topics have new posts since my last visit. I don't see that in Modern view - or am I missing something? That is the feature that is keeping me on Classic.
