Why is Florida always excluded from the giveaways? Archived From: FatWallet |
This is the only site i've seen that excludes Florida from all the giveaways. The only thing I can think based on reading that is possibly that Florida has some restriction regarding mandatory dispute resolution outside the state. Anyone know? |

if i recall it has to do with the large amount of old people in florida. insurance companies or whatever used to take advantage of them. So the court system changed the rules from standard to "You need to be personally approved by florida rules in order to operate here". rather than go thru the hassle of making their contest florida-legal they just exclude them. It's the same reason you can't get applecare in Florida. That way apple can just cover their products in a uniform way rather than making special florida exceptions. |

Ive seen giveaways in the past, but none recently......maybe they want to protect the gators and manatees haha |
I believe that there is an obscure law from the 19th century dictating that states with their own category tag on fark.com can't be included in giveaways. |
