I am using FF 3 on XP SP2. Here's the list of cookies on my system with promo bar. With promo bar closed it has the same cookies. I think FW add a cookie (nav_bar_promo or something) but I don't see it. |

It used to. I believe that's handled on FW servers now, and no cookie is required. I imagine this would present problems if you weren't signed in, though. Perhaps a dev could clarify! |
the promo banner closing was controlled by cookie, now it is set by user account in our db. When a new promo is launched, the system should start showing it to you - basically, if you stay logged in, you should only need to close a banner once per new promotion. Is something different than that happening? |

FatWallet.Com said:the promo banner closing was controlled by cookie, now it is set by user account in our db. It's not working for me. I stay logged in all the time. I even logged out once and logged back in but the promo bar still stays. When I close it, it goes away until I move to a different topic. |

It's still not working for me. I am experiencing the same thing on a different computer (one work, one home). |
Just got a response back from support (after I contacted them via support ticket) that it's a bug and they are working on it. |
What addons are you using? |
Adblock Plus I got a reply from Mars that he was able to close it using my account, somehow all my tries to close it did not register in my account. |
gujjuguy said:Adblock Plus We have another user with this issue, and we think it might be a FF3 add on. |
MarsdenFubar said:gujjuguy said:Adblock Plus But I had the same problem on two different computers, one with FF3 and other with FF2. |
gujjuguy said:MarsdenFubar said:gujjuguy said:Adblock Plus Did both computers have the same stuff installed? (ad block, noscript sound like culprits - but i don't know much about either at the moment) |
Yes, pretty much the same. Fatwallet.com is in the safe list for no script. |
gujjuguy said:Yes, pretty much the same. i'll look more into the add-ons you're using and see if i can find any potential problems. i think the promotion is over now though, so testing will be a challenge |
gujjuguy said:Fatwallet.com is in the safe list for no script. Not sure if this will help you debug your issue but it can't hurt: The part of the JavaScript code that is not working for you is a XMLHttpRequest used with the jQuery library function getJSON(). That request is what is used to tell our servers that you clicked the close button. |

So the promo ad finally went away -- now I can't find the thread to see who won. Help? |
