The New Members who are posting those begging posts are probably not even looking at the beginning or end of the thread, and won't bother to scroll up to read your threat, and might not even care as long as they can beg for tickets somewhere.

This will only punish the long-time faithful FatWallet users and send them to other sites that have screening threads.

I don't know if there is any easy solution, but I don't think even the many people who hate begging clutter (like me) would rather have it shut down.

Poor choice of a word, think locked down, not shut down. Meaning it would be moderated and messages would have to be approved(on lock down).
