interesting.

Still not better than "top" and "bottom" buttons.

Can the quick reply box be moved to the top when browsing in newest-post-first mode?

How do you show the quick reply box again after you hide it?

alert mods

There's a 'quick reply' link towards the top of a topic next to 'search this topic.' This unhides the quick reply box and scrolls down to it.

At the top, in the OP, you'll notice a 'Quick Reply' link (up by 'text only'). This will bring you to the Quick Reply box, and open it back up if you've closed it.

Enjoy

How did "Quick Reply" take precedence over "Top" and "Bottom" buttons?

Suggest refreshing the page so there's feedback that the reply was submitted.

Didn't you leave? =)

The quick reply link was moved to the first topic post next to 'reply' & 'quote'

IMHO there should still be a "show quick reply" link in the same place you click "hide quick reply", that's the way every other "hide/show" feature works on the site.

alert mods

Plus the "hide quick reply" text should be clickable instead of just the tiny close box.

alert mods

Will the regular reply eventually be phased out? I don't see any reason why the features missing from quick reply couldn't be added. A "quick quote" feature should also be pretty easy to implement.

alert mods

why wouldnt quick reply work with classic view? ...i use classic view mainly..

Still not better than "top" and "bottom" buttons.

(using IE6)

when I click on "post quick reply" nothing happens except a message in the bottom bar "shortcut to javascript:void(0)"

So once quick reply starts working for me, if it's hidden and I'm on the 20th page of a thread and I want to use quick reply I have to go back to the Original Post in order to use the quick reply feature? What's quick about that?
