FatWallet is testing a new shopping tool called FatWallet Tools. It’s viewable in your Firefox browser address bar and changes color to alert you to availability of offers and Cash Back for the store you're shopping. It runs seamlessly in the background of your online browsing.
For a limited time, you can download it, install it, and try to break it for us by visiting this link: www.fatwallet.com/toolbar.
Note: You must be signed in to view the download page.
From this download page, you'll also find helpful information about FatWallet Tools' features and functionality.
Thank you for your participation in this beta release. We hope you find this to be a useful tool as you shop online.
Please reply to this topic or submit a support ticket and we’ll try to answer any questions you may have as soon as humanly possible.
I did install it but I'd much rather have a pop up telling me, in a word, "Hey stupid, there's FatCash available here", not a little red icon in the address bar. It's likely to get overlooked, especially in my case, since there's so many colors all over the place anyway. Just my 2¢

Sounds good.
I'll try it out, try to break it, and then give you some feedback.

More overt notification options might be possible, there is a fine line between being helpful and being annoying when it comes to browser add ons!
I loaded and I like it, but would like it more if it was bigger, even if it had to be placed somewhere else (it is not in a place that I usually pay attention to) .
i was browsing around Zappos.com which i know has 6% CashBack from FW but the little icon on the toolbar remained gray. i did the same for Shoes.com and the little icon turned red. whats the point if the toolbar is not consistent?
there used to be a great auto notifier FF extension simply called FatCash but is have not been updated to work with FF 3
but i have the FC link added to my toolbar for years and its good the only thing i don't like is that when you click on the store link (to activate FC) it switches the page you are viewing (product page of what you want to buy) and takes you to the store home page so you need to click back on the browser

More accurately, to our knowledge, we have two merchants that offer Cash Back, but do not currently turn green in your browser. We are working to change this for you. Our apologies for any inconveniences in your FatWallet Tools experience. Thank you for your feedback.
Shoes.com should have turned green...were you signed in?
Downloaded and installed....I'm with the others that it would be best if it was automatic, don't think I will notice this. I remember that upromise had a toolbar that would automatically ensure you would get the rebate. I'll see how it works.
Personally, I'd prefer something in-between an in-your-face pop-up (see attached) and a color-shifting icon that's bound to get lost in the usual barrage of banner ads, flyovers, animated graphics, etc. What's more, YELLOW (the universal color for caution) might be a better color choice for cash-back opportunities that might otherwise be missed, and RED (or gray) for those sites where no fat cash is offered (i.e., "Don't go there!").

Zappos has chosen not to participate in FatWallet Tools. Shoes.com should have turned green...we're you signed in?
Is there any way for us to find out which merchants participate in FatCash, but have opted out of Fatwallet Tools?
EDIT: to add a thank you for the new tool. The FW staff is pretty great. Thanks.

If there are many (even some) participating merchants who will opt out, then IMHO, this feature actually becomes a negative. Once you come to rely on this, you have an even lesser likelihood to check the list.

FYI The Fatwallet Tools forum link goes 404 and to the homepage
Woha, lol, installed the toolbar, posted this reply and my avatar is the OP's avatar, even though my normal avatar shows in my account...buggy LOL
Edit again: And now my avatar is back to normal...interesting.
chocula said: DO we get double Cash Back while we test it? LOL While this may have been written in jest, it's still a VERY valid point. All of us are looking at the benefits WE will get, which is a good thing. But while each of us will save pennies (ok, a few dollars) individually, FW will collectively rake in millions extra.
Think about it!
Think some more . . .
I would second the motion that testers should get extra during this phase. It's only fair!
And I think the rest of us should get behind this. After all, isn't saving JustALittleBitMore the true FW spirit?
Oh, and I need some green. Not for my ego, but so more readers will notice this post. Thanks!

Thanks for making an "official" tool like this. I was using another Firefox add-on which did the same thing and it stopped working.
I tried to use it and it says I need cookies enabled. I already have fatwallet.com as a permitted cookie. Is there some other cookie I need to have enabled or do all cookies have to be enabled? Right now I only allow certain sites I trust to send cookies.

FatWallet Cash Back is in the same category as a rebate or discount, so there is no need for 1099s.
