Why you got red for your post

So … not that I’ve been a member that long, but I frequently see posts asking why someone got red. Many are left unanswered (not surprisingly). So, I thought we could combine our mighty FW knowledge and list all those reasons why we (or others) give red. Over and over. And over. Then, when someone asks that question in a thread, we can just link them here.

If you were one of those who asked “Why did you give me red?” ... the answer is probably in this thread somewhere (or will be, maybe, someday). Yeah, I know you want a specific answer, but it’s an online discussion forum. If someone doesn’t want to explain, they pretty much don’t have to. At least this will give you some idea. But the truth is … there doesn’t have to be a reason, whether we like it or not.

I’ll start by adding a bunch to the summary. Some of these will be from various FW FAQ pages or forum threads. Some are ones that are common sense. Some are ones that I’ve seen posted. Others I just POOMA. Feel free to add to the summary. Or the thread. Or don’t.

As a note from the FW HD FAQ (emphasis added):

“Thread rating system
Voting is multi-purpose and subjective. People may vote on a post because they do, or do not like the content, the wording, the idea, or many other reasons.”

Bring on the Red!

i see a flaw in this system. the majority of forums that i have been a member to have you write some reasoning to way you gave a green or red. that why people learn. this system leaves people lost and confused

Maybe we just get rid of reds... you know, just boost
