SEARCH testing (FYI)

We’ve been working on improving our search* and we’re starting testing now.
Half of you will be sent to the new search results interface and half will see the old.
If you're seeing the old and you're curious, check it out over on beta.fatwallet.com.

This first test is primarily an interface test.
Next we’ll test different engines, weighting, etc.
We’ll choose the best-performing search in a couple weeks, and continue to tweak it.

If by "weighting" you mean that relevance scoring on the right side, forget it. That is about the most useless measurement I've ever seen (and not just at this site). If you must include it, make sure that there are other ways we can sort the results.

Automatically group by forum in search results.

Searching for a term used in a long thread doesn't take me to the post in which the term was used. At least the first snippet of text around the search term could be displayed on the results page for some context.
