This sort of media exposure is almost always a bad thing. It floods FWF with credit boards style "Im 50k in CC debt, what do I do?" questions and any good deals highlighted by the media (like the Pentagon one) quickly disappear.

On the other hand when they arrive here if we can only show posts and threads from TripleB, they will leave as quickly

Still some great finds every now and then.
That is more likely a function of the horrible economy of the past few years forcing companies to tighten their belts than of FW becoming too mainstream. Most people are not good with money, and certainly not consistently so. I bet as the economy improves and people have more cash to spend, the folks who are always in debt drift away from FW and continue to waste money (and businesses will be able or likely to offer better deals).
I was watching CNN's American Morning today and noticed that they posted the FW site as a source for those seeking advice on rising credit card interest rates. Like magika mentioned above, I hope they (CNN) are not doing this because they are pissed at us for posting all those CNN Heroes stories in FWF.
