I've had this on my mind for years and figured now is a good time to bring it up given all of the changes being made on FW:
To the best of my knowledge, the only way to currently manage your topic alerts are by: -deleting them from within your forum notification emails ("You are subscribed to the following topic alerts:" ..."Remove This Alert") -electing to have the current list of your alerts emailed to you (http://fatwallet.com/forums/alertsrem.php) -creating a new alert (http://fatwallet.com/forums/alerts.php). [The link where you could view a list of your current alerts is no longer on this page.] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The glaring omission, IMHO, is the ability to edit existing alerts (e.g., add/remove forums, html/text, title and/or body search, notification frequency, and email destination). It would also be really helpful to be able to modify your existing key words if the results you are getting are not refined enough. At the moment, in order to modify any of these features, I have to delete my topic alert in an email then go back to FW and crate a new alert/start from scratch. If you have to make the same change to multiple topics... well, you just don't unless you are really, really, really bored or on forced bed rest or something. It would also be helpful to be able to create a default setting for your topic alerts so that you don't have to keep re-selecting the same features every time you create a new alert. The most frequent reason that I have to delete and recreate a topic is because I forgot to select a forum or instant alerting or something. Better yet, being able to create "sets" or profiles within this default setting, so that you can create different combinations of preferences that you can then assign each topic alert to (does that make sense?... it sounds good in my head). Finally, it would be great to be able to access these topic editing features when you click the "Topic Alerts" link on the forums tool bar (http://fatwallet.com/forums/alerts.php). That;s most intuitive. This link should then contain a section for creating a new alert, modifying exiting alerts, and specifying your topic alert preferences/default setting. OK. That's all. Glad to finally get it off my chest, even if I'm the only one who cares |
