For some time now
When I post, the emoticons do now show.
I have to edit, then do them.

I wonder why,

And apple safari
Can't figure out how to get the version number

And when you edit that post, there will be no emoticons. You have to add them again, and THEN it works. Correct?

When you add them from the first time reply or new topic posting page, does the text for the emoticons actually appear in the big white textarea?

No, the text for them does not appear until the edit.

I think it's doing the same for me. Nothing shows up in text area if I select any emoticons from the dropdown. using Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3 on XP

Modern I'm seeing the same symptoms with Modern as well. It's as if the updates aren't happening on the mouse-select/click for the emotion in Modern.

I'm having the same issue using Modern and Firefox 3.5.3. The emoticons only work for me when I'm a thread starter.

sheesh! I return from vacation to find that others are having this problem that I've been complaining about (since long before this latest revision to the site). Windows XP, IE6 and FireFox 3.5 using Modern (and now, I guess, the latest site layout & color revision) -- emoticons simply don't show up in the white space where I am typing when I select them from the drop-down box. They'll show up when I edit to add them.
