I am so upset over this. You have to make an extra click to get there. While they now have pretty pics like on Dealnews, all this extra fancy schmancy stuff takes time by staffers deciding which post gets it, the pics etc. This can cost valuable time, and make you lose out on a deal. I can see where this method would actually get FW more affiliate fees, but as a user I find myself spending less and less time on this site. Which used to be my favorite. Still is for the people and staff, but no longer for the deals.
We tried to clear a path to main site areas by removing them. We realize we're missing a "what's hot now" presentation for our regulars, and will work on that (there's more to be done). Thanks for your kind words about our people, and for your patience. We'll continue to listen and do our best for you.

The home page of the site is obviously aimed primarily at new users...that's not a bad thing, but once a user logs in the home page should reflect content that's useful to an active FW user rather than someone who's thinking about signing up.
In fact, you could make the entire front page into a portal with customizable components, or at least give users the option of enabling a dynamic FW front page. Such a page would be my new FW bookmark instead of linking directly to FWF as I do now.

I disagree here. I think HOT deals were an attraction to new customers. Thats how I started back in the day. I stopped by the site and was impressed with the initial HOT deals images, and ultimately it made me think... wow this site is good, how can I get involved.
The new homepage doesn't do anything to impress new visitors IMO, which is why HOT deals needs to come back, among other things.
