Starting a few weeks back, whenever I click a link in a post on fatwallet (firefox or IE) the new tab comes up, but I get nothing in it and the url (example) is:
Did you by chance install any security software, anti-spyware, virus protection, etc about the time this started happening? What about any browser addons?
Do you have any anti-virus software installed, and if so, which kind? Also, if you have any add-ons installed it'd be great to know too. Thanks for your help, we'll get to the bottom of this!
I run microsoft security essentials. I tried turning it off but that didnt solve it. I may have installed something somewhere near the time the problem started happening but I went back and removed everything up to and well past that date.
I see some folks back in 2007/2008 had a similar problem with the spybot s&d product 'innoculation' and I did have that installed, but had it for quite some time. I de-innoculated all the sites and removed it. No change.
I have a bunch of add-ins on firefox but nothing really exotic. On IE its just Flash, Adobe pdf helper, live signin helper and java. Pretty much box stock and I rarely even use it.
Updates that happened around the time it started? Security essentials updates itself many times a week, I think I got a firefox update to the latest version right around then, and I installed and ran malwarebytes but I'm pretty sure I did that after the problem started.
Weird that it seems to only affect fatwallet, and really weird that it'll work if I right click on the link and say 'open in new tab', but not if I just click the link, which has it open a new tab. I wonder what the functional difference is between those two. Even weirder that it effects both IE and firefox.
Great, thanks. It looks like it's a problem with the fatwallet.org domain. We're able to reproduce the problem on that domain and we've got someone looking into it right now. Thanks!
Yep, works great now. Thanks for fixing it, that was getting annoying!
Funny, been like this for something like 3-4 weeks. You'd have thought someone else would have said something sooner! I did a few searches the last couple of weeks and didnt see anything, so I figured it was just something screwed up on my computer.
As an aside, what does one have to do to become a Ding Dong Champion?
