I was joking, just not sure you were. Sorry!

no approval yet...

Just applied this month for and got 100K miles on Chase BA Visa. Will Chase approve again for this deal?

No notification from Chase to me one way or another on the approval. Logged onto my Chase account today and saw the card there with an $8K limit.

How many days did it take after you applied?

I'm a little confused about the annual fee on this offer. In the link it says no annual fee first year. I just got this same card offer in the mail and it says no annual fee at all - there's no "first year" anything. The standardized fees and features page says "No annual fee". I wonder which it is?

Same here. Just logged into my Chase account which only had a Freedom card attached to it and I see the Sapphire account with 10.5k limit. I applied on 5/18.

There are 2 different Sapphire cards, one with an annual fee and one without a fee. Many of us have been able to convert to the card without a fee after our first year. However the benefits aren't quite as good.

But the 50,000 bonus seems to be the same for both...

Yup -- they matched the offer for the non-annual fee card and the fee one (Preferred card). The only difference is that on the non-fee card, you can't transfer to airline, hotel and train partners like the Preferred card can.

No notification for me, but I just applied the other day. I already have other Chase cards, but figured I'd give it a shot as there are mixed results. We'll see what happens...

Applied on Monday, it showed up on my chase online account 2 days later. I have a chase account with $6 balance.

My friend also applied, with over $20k in chase and no debt but got denied...

I got 10.5K credit line, too. Activation was quick with a real operator answering on 1st ring.

There is an extra benefit nobody mentioned... This card looks amazing! It is metal, flat on the front (no raised CC numbers; the numbers are on the back) and a tad heavy. Very distinctive and cool, for whatever that is worth to you.

Instantly approved. Now I have to figure out the cheapest way to get 3K on it.

Are there any fees for converting these points to Continental miles? Also, what is the conversion rate? Finally, how do you actually make the transfer- I can't seem to find out how on Chase's UR site. Thanks.

I received mine last week and have gotten lots of comments when I've presented it for use ( I have to use it constantly to get the 50K reward points )

I had to wait 3-4 minutes for activation, but the operator was extremely pleasant, and didn't try to sell me anything. She just made sure I understood the card terms and reward system and confirmed the bonus points criteria ($3000 in first 93 days.) I didn't realize this was such a high-quality card (relative to the other 1% "trash" cards I have.) Purchase protection, extended warranties, free rental insurance, price protection, etc. It's got a small CL compared to my NFCU, but I'm liking it so far.

I tried to resist this but couldn't. Was approved for $5k. Very low for me. I apped 5/28, was deferred but calling the status number today has it approved. This is my 4th active Chase card.

This does clear up the question of whether I'm perma-banned from U/R bonus's or not.

there you go, clutch! join the club...IMHO NEW 5k is pretty good - could have been 5k from your other 3 cards ...I applied for my SO, she was denied and on recon they let her take $5k from Freedom.

VK, I was fully expecting to have to negotiate with another lines limit so I'm a little surprised.

I applied for this card about a month after I was approved for the BA card 100k bonus.

I wasn't approved instantly, about a week later got a letter in the mail saying I was denied due to a recent delinquency or late payment. I called the reconsideration line the next day and I spoke to an agent. I told them that there was a collection item for a medical bill from 3 years ago and it had been paid in full so I thought it was odd that they counted it as recent. He asked for some information(annual income, etc) and said he would resubmit and see what happened.

He came back and said they have already extended the maximum amount of credit to me for someone at my income level. I said I'd be willing to close an existing account and transfer the credit limit so their exposure remained the same. I said I'd close my Hyatt Visa(just used the 2 free nights last weekend actually) and he said ok, well he still can't instantly approve me but he will put that data in and if it is approved they will close my Hyatt card and I should hear something within a month.

I just logged on to my chase account today and it says my Hyatt card has been closed so just pay off any balance by the end of the month. That says to me they approved my application.

Also if you've read this far, I wouldn't use the secure e-mail to ask to "bump the bonus". If you do that and they deny you, a note is put on your account referencing the request. However in my experience if you call a CSR, if they turn you down they don't do anything to your account and you can just call back and try again.

I applied and was approved after having taken advantage of a Chase Sapphire Preferred $250 bonus ~2 years ago (which I canceled a bit over a year ago). I have two questions for you guys.

1) When you receive the card in the mail is there anything that mentions the spend $3000 in 3 months to get 50k points? I do not see anything in my package that mentions the bonus. I'm hoping that they didn't exempt me. I'd ideally like to find out before I charge up $3000k, because that's more than I would normally spend.

2) Flipping through the cardmember agreement I found something that may be relevant to some of us. Under "Important Definitions" it defines "Cash-like Transactions":
The following will be treated as cash advances: purchasing travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions; purchasing lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions; and making a payment using a third party service.
Does anyone have experience with this card and buying dollar coins from the mint? I'm wondering if they would include that as a cash advance.

When I called to activate the card, the CSR herself confirmed the 50K bonus on the account. Just call them, they will be able to look it up on your account and confirm.

And it always helps to keep a print out or save a snap shot of the offer for follow up later in case the bonus doesn't post.

Good luck and welcome to FW!

never happened before, doubt it will happen with this card. Mint is on the fritz lately anyways.

Thanks for the info.

I confirmed that the bonus is active by phone. So this means that even if you've already done a Chase Sapphire bonus, you still may be able to do it again. In my case I canceled the previous card a bit over a year ago.

got rejected

The "details" include the following:

To qualify and receive your bonus, you must make qualifying transactions totaling $3,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. Qualifying transactions include purchases, balance transfers, and any checks that are used to access your account, and exclude cash advances.

I wonder what the terms of any included access checks will be...

Darn, got the "We are reviewing your application" screen. No previous Chase Credit Cards, so hopefully this one makes it through!

EDIT: Got approved this week - need to see what my CL is once the card shows up in the mail.

signed up for the card and got pending decision. I already 3 cards with chase including the infamous AARP card ;-P

Applied last week - got the pending message, but a 6K limit is showing in my Chase account now! This is my fourth Chase card so I was rather surprised. Which is better, the Sapphire or Freedom? I have been using my freedom card for most purchases.

Is this a Visa or a Mastercard ?

I applied last week and they said they needed to review. I logged in Monday and the Sapphire card had appeared with a 6k limit. Moving on to the 3k spending, in the offer details it states, "To qualify and receive your bonus, you must make qualifying transactions totaling $3,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. Qualifying transactions include purchases, balance transfers, and any checks that are used to access your account, and exclude cash advances. "

So a BT will qualify? My account does not show any BT offers as of yet but there are two on my Freedom card.

I got this offer the last time for 25000 points. Shot Chase an email asking for the full 50000, couldn't do that but gave me 2500 in good will. Not too bad. I think they've been advised to do that as a default resp. The letter must have been a form letter since it said the credit was for how much I use it, and I only made the minimum I needed to get the full bonus.

Got my card 2 weeks ago, spent my $3k late last week. Today my 53,000 points showed up and I order my check. Pretty quick and easy money.

Cool! Was this FW style spending?

Visa

Apparantly GC purchase counts as cash advance. How are people meeting their spending requirement?

americano said:   Apparantly GC purchase counts as cash advance. How are people meeting their spending requirement?Where did you buy the GC at? I've never heard of this before for any card.

^^Ditto...

I was planning on getting some Smiths/Kroger GC's paid for along with a couple items. How would they know what I bought?
