Thanks OP for the post.

I had to call in and verify some information. The analyst almost didn't approve me (30 YOA, no credit problems, just not a huge credit history). I had to point out that I have had a CC since 2001, which I think she had overlooked.

This is my first interaction with BOA and they are doing their best to live up to their reputation. Oh well, free $250!

Have to call in, but was approved for $12500.

Have to call in!

applied last night and called this morning and they had already approved it

Bank of America = pure evil. There's some hidden catch somewhere which will end up screwing you out of more money that you would "win" from this promo. I've NEVER had a single good experience with BoA. EVER. #chaserules

Had to call in after applying last night. They approved me after shifting my existing bofa/fia credit limits to the new card.

4% balance transfer fee now. Not even 3% anymore? pricks.

You mean this qualifies as a different card vs the replacement they gave you for the FIA one? What one did you have?

After getting Chase sapphires, southwests and inks in the last 3 months, not really surprised that I am not finding much love from the issuers. Citi won't talk to me at all (too many new inquiries!)

BOA CCs have always been very nice to me in the past and given me thousands in BTs. Hate using them for measly 250.. Maybe do 2 apps. But then Citi will never talk to me.. boo hoo

So it looks like there is a $250 bonus for $500 spending. I see at least one poster who received the incentive upon activation. I will be calling to activate and confirming the incentive with a live person. I will post my results. I would say a $250 incentive is the LEAST BOA can do for such a royal f***-up!

BOA would not apply the $250 bonus to the unactivated Cash Rewards 1/2/3 card. I submitted the online application for the $250 bonus offer while on the phone with a CSR. I did not receive instant approval but was approved after some grilling by a senior credit analyst. In my case, they are transferring $5K of the current credit line to the new card. Where there is a will, there IS a way! The initial CSR was very helpful/thorough and drafted a detailed summary of my situation and sent to management, FWIW.

The (few) people who were able to take advantage of this would heartily disagree.

BoA has its faults like any big bank, but to refuse to take advantage of a worthwhile promo solely because of a general prejudice against BoA seems unproductive. BoA might seem that it has more than its share of CSRs who haven't a clue, but the CSR can only be as good as the training provided, and IMO the training issue is a management one, not a CSR one. That's exactly why we see so many problems with the transition from the 2% ex-Schwab card to the CashRewards card: the CSRs were given almost no product information. And the lack of adequate training isn't just a BoA problem; other banks (or more properly, their customers) suffer from the same problem.

My typical customer experience with BoA has been a good one, and I've taken advantage of a number of promotions with no problems getting the bonus.

Had to call in to reallocate credit limits from my existing BOA AMEX to this card - thanks OP! Look forward to using this to fix the Akirimobile.

I have one of these BoA Cash Rewards cards because my Schwab card was converted to a FIA card which was converted to this.

Can I apply for this card and get the bonus?

To answer my own question: YES!

I just applied over the phone and asked several times if my existing BoA CR Visa would preclude me from receiving the $250 signup bonus. I was told several times by the frontline CSRs that "no, its a new card so you will be eligible". I wasn't 100% convinced (somewhat shaky english skills, self-contradictory upon follow up questioning). I decided to go for it. After I gave them all the basic info I was transferred to a "credit analyst" or something like that. She seemed much more knowledgeable and seemed to be a native english speaker and she said emphatically that I was eligible for the bonus.

I had to split my credit limit from the old card 50/50 with the new one, but was approved and will be receiving the card in 7-10 business days.

I've attached a screenshot showing the $250 bonus.

If you apply over the phone, the "priority code" for the $250 offer is: VAA8KE

I had AAA MBNA Visa that BOA gobbled up several years ago .. hopefully that will not be an issue per post above ...

How soon can we close the account without a closing fee?

My FIA is the Fidelity AMEX card (bofa is an older non-schwab card).

Approved but question is when do the 90 days start from, now or on receipt of card in 10days, or later after activation ???

Congratulations, your credit card application has been approved with a $12500 credit line! You will receive your credit card within 7 to 10 days and the Welcome Package within 10 to 14 days at the address you provided

FYI
Eligible merchants and the associated merchant category codes (“MCC”) for the Bonus Categories are the following: (a) Grocery Stores (MCC codes 5411, 5422, 5441, 5451, 5462, and 5499); and (b) Gas Stations (MCC codes 5541 and 5542).Purchases made at a merchant that does not process transactions under these codes will not qualify and you will not receive the bonus cash rewards.

It appears that it is from the open date... so I'd say we are "losing" the 7-10 days that it takes for the card to show up in the mail.
From the Terms & Conditions:
You will qualify for $250 bonus cash rewards if you use your new account to make Purchases totaling at least $500 (exclusive of any transaction fees, returns and adjustments) that post to your account within 90 days of the account open date.

Interesting, 2 family members with very close credit, income and employment situation receiving different outcomes. One approved instantly, other gets "... our senior credit analysts are carefully considering your request..." -- WTF ? I am NOT about to call BoA anytime soon even if this means a loss of an extra day or two... assuming some who got above response got approvals overnight etc... but could delay a bit with ThxGiving off days

Here's what happened to me:

I violated the # rule of FW, which is to never call. I dialed customer service on my recently converted Schwab Fia Services Card.

I said, yo, what's shaking homi? I see dis here 250 cash rewards for spending $500. I just got my card and want to know if I'm eligible for that reward.

The woman asked where I saw the promo and the promo code. She then said my card will be 'upgraded' to the 1-2-3 Card. I asked her, right, my question is: Will I get the $250 reward. After about 3 minutes on hold, she came back and told me yes. And in a few weeks, I should get a new card and if I spend $500, I'll get my $250.

Pretty simple. I didn't need another card, they're just replacing my existing card.

Good to know that they are offering the same promo on the schwab migration cards

Don't waste your time calling today, their credit department has already gone home early for Thanksgiving.

Jumped on the offer.. instant approval for $12,500. Took about a minute to return the result so I was starting to get worried. In the end thanks BofA for the Christmas bonus money

If I can swing a couple more deals like this, I might be able to afford those Tag watches posted in another thread.

No instant decision over here.

Yea, 10000 credit line for my wife! The last promo I did with BOA was a checking account added, I already had the credit card. I ended up with 240.00 from that one....never had a problem with BOA (I know many have though)

I wonder why this deal is not on the BoA website lol

the card is not even offered on their site, I wonder where OP got the deal from

When I called the number on the webpage that showed up, I got right through to a person - no menu, no hold time or anything. Called around noon Pacific time today.

New applicants only? I already have two of these cards.

had to call. damn

thanks. was hesitating on the card till this deal came along!

I think people should use the following cleaner link, like what IamN41 says to do over the phone: (without anyone profiting off of you from using the OP's link.) https://consumer.bankofamerica.com/USCCapp/Ctl/entry?sc=VAA8KE .It doesnt have the &cm_mmc=Cons-CC-_-OLB_TOLA-_-CCR2X167_card-111_ta_250_ard6p1k5-e.gif-_-Card-Acquisition after the KE. Source seems to be from Chinese website with popup ads and malware at mitbbs .xx /article_t/Money/31662941.html. IMHO, Chase and Citib have better sign-up bonuses.

Applied online, got phone call in response. I had made the mistake of stating my real income rather than exaggerating as usual, and initially they said they couldn't open a new account for me because I already had enough credit. But they really bent over backwards to find a way, which ultimately involved me promising to earn more money next year! In exchange, they shifted $5K from one of my existing lines to open the new card (which they had initially said couldn't be done). It all reminds me of the good ol' days when BofA offered me nearly free balance transfers of $40,000 every time I called in.

I applied online and got the message to call in. I called in and they said I was approved for 10k credit line.

easy. had to call, and they are still open (the page says they close at 7pm ET, but I talked to them and they are open until 9pm ET m-f

Schwab convert.

Shot down via secure messaging via BoA website for the promotion. I'll try the phone route next.

If I don't get the $250 offer applied then I am paying off my balance and closing the card. There are other rewards cards that match or beat this card and I have been thinking about closing it anyway.

Called in. CSR said they can easily open a new line by moving the credit from one card to this one. Ok.

She really wanted me to take 0% advance for 18 months but the bt fee was 4% and that did not work for me

Currently have this card via the converted Schwab/FIA but i just applied and was approved for $10K CL (converted card only has $5K CL)! Thanks Op!

Applied, called, approved. Nice find, OP! ^
