They're not even releasing the company name and I only found out because of jcarter. If he doesn't come back and update once it's official (and I believe he will), I will gladly do so once public. I was hoping I'd get to meet him today, but he's been eerily silent in the sense of a gag order (probably due to the buyer's circumstances).

But I do believe this company is in the process of or has recently been sold. One of the VC sponsors indirectly confirmed the news with me when he indicated he had good news to share at our upcoming meeting. As always there are hiccups, so please be patient and keep your fingers crossed that nothing derails the deal (for my sake and OPs!).

How can you represent a larger owner of OP's company and not even know the name?

How did you arrive at the conclusion that Venturion doesn't "even know the name" of OP's company?

Based on his reference to a gag order and "the buyer's circumstances," I think he's saying that he wouldn't know the name of the buyer except that Jcarter told him.

I think I remember OP saying early on that he would have preferred to have kept this whole deal quiet, but the buyer was insisting on a big announcement. Makes sense that they would want to keep things under wraps until they're ready to announce on their terms, for maximum effect in terms of publicity or some other business reasons.

Or the whole thing's bullshit. Hopefully we'll know tomorrow.

We are indirect owners. Anyone in the PE/VC world will know what this means, i.e. limited partnership.

I dont think Venturion said he doesnt know that name of the company; just that he doesnt want to disclose it, till it is publicly released.

We all have too.

According to the internets, we all get a percentage of the settlement, up to 0.01 %, depending on how many sign up for the class action.

From previous topics, it seems that posting your name and address on a website called fatwallet, you get to join any class action settlement.

I'm in for 20 grand!

I think the OP's company could be Adjitsu, if that hasn't been speculated already.

C'mon. This is all baloney

There is no acquisition, there is no $1B company on the verge of being acquired, there is no FWF member about to be presented with a fortune who came to these forums to start talking about what would be very, very confidential information.

I bet the OP split mega millions lottery tickets with 2 other buddies and was brainstorming on what to do with his future "winnings." The timing to that lottery drawing is too coincidental.

Would Venturion troll FWF?

Gawd I hope not. If he's part of a trollspiracy it would be like supporting O this whole time and then he comes out and says he supports same-sex marriage.

No, that would be like finding out that if I ride on a boat to the edge of the horizon I won't fall off the side.

I just hope I haven't been trolled myself. Right now I'm not so sure My intel is starting to diverge from what Jcarter has told me and he's been AWOL for weeks now. I guess time will tell. I can be patient, especially when I have no choice!

There were many unusual things about this thread/op

He knew the right people and places, but after voluntarily offering to send me a NDA somehow his email didn't work and I never got it .

After suggesting a lunch, since we live within 5 minutes of each other, he never called. After he suggested some Vegas comps, never came through.

Yeah then he called his "blog" Designed for Failure. On the upside this thread should be a great resource if any of us were to unexpectedly find ourselves coming into nine or ten figures...

I still give it a 5% chance he comes back.

Thanks for letting us know. I've been wondering why you never took him up on the offer, since you're usually good for that sort of stuff.

and this didn't make you call BS on the whole troll, errrr...... I mean, story? And to think I used to think you were sharper than that.

Seriously, this whole thing has smelled badly since the very beginning.

A Troll seeks immense attention, since he has been AWOL for a while, I think there is a big chance this is for real. Unless, this was an academic experiment.

Troll or not, it's not like my life depended on OP's genuineness or that I had any stake in the outcome. One amusing note: "How do I invest a $250K windfall from X activity?" brings a slew of red. "What should I do with an extra $250MM from X activity?", especially if the specific activity is a mystery, gets green. I guess we all have our price.

If OP is for real, bravo for his success. If he isn't, bravo for stringing everyone along so well; getting upset about it isn't worthwhile. At the most, reading this thread was a waste of time. I can think of many worse threads that were both aggravating and a waste of time.

I would say it was actually quite an interesting thread (minus a few tangents) but yeah overall no one is out anything here.

His private security firm recommended him not to disclose anything more in this thread for his safety and security. They suspected that this might result in an increase in his risk profile, which was already elevated given his share of the buyout. They have, in addition, recommended that he assigns someone to go back and edit all his posts that point even remotely to his identity. They have also suggested the use of a VPN proxy to protect himself from reverse IP lookup.

Yeah I Definitely took him up on his offer to verify the story . And I know venturion was likewise on the case and hoped to have an update a couple days ago. So I didn't want to post my findings until after that .

Probably troll bait from jump street, but I think the security thing may be real, that is if it isn't troll bait. I don't know anything about this kind of thing, but I can imagine all kinds of nefarious security problems that quarter billionaires have that the rest of us, except for SIS and Venturion, don't have. Think of this: How much concern do you have that the Russian Mob is trying to hack your Fidelity account, or whatever. I assume they are trying to hack all of them in a low level kind of a way. But attach a name to a quarter billion dollars, that might attract attention.

Regardless of whether the story is real or not , there is a ton of useful info in this thread for anyone who comes into a large amount of money.

There are also fw members who posted in this thread who clearly have experience in hnw banking and are usefuL networking resources
