Chase United Mileage Plus Club Card 1st year free ($395 value)

I'm not sure if this should go here or in a different forum, but I got this in my email yesterday:
Introducing the new United MileagePlus Club Card.

As a MileagePlus® Premier® member, you're invited to apply for the new MileagePlus Club Card — the only Card that includes a United ClubSM membership and a suite of travel benefits. Plus, there is no annual fee the first year (a $395 value).*

Apply by April 15, 2012. Your first year is free ($395 value).*

While you have to be a United Elite member to get this free offer, I was hoping it could help a few people here. This card has a ton of perks besides the free United Club membership. In addition it offers:

• Earn 50% more miles on ALL purchases. This is a new benefit. Cardmembers will earn at least 50% more miles on all purchases with the new Club Card. Specifically, for each $1 spent, Cardmembers will earn 1.5 miles, and when purchasing United tickets, the miles jump to 2 miles for every $1 spent on tickets
  
• Free first and second standard checked bags for the Cardmember and one companion
  
• Premier Access travel services, including priority check-in, security, boarding and baggage handling
  
• Book award tickets close to the departure date without a fee. We’ll waive the fee for booking award tickets 21 days or less prior to departure. This benefit is reserved for certain Cardmembers and certain Premier levels
  
• Get complimentary upgrades on award tickets (applicable for Premier members). Cardmembers who are also Premier members will be eligible to receive their complimentary upgrade benefits (where available) even when traveling on an award ticket in economy class
  
• No foreign transaction fees
  
• Cardmembers will have access to last-seat award availability (applicable to general members)
  
• As a Cardmember, miles don’t expire
  
• Invitation to special Avis benefits and Hyatt Platinum Elite status

I know the Avis membership gives you access to the "unpublished" Presidents Club level with grants a 2 car class upgrade.

Note: no signup bonus with the card.

It's unfortunate the card is targeted for United Elite only. Worth getting for United Club access and maybe the second bag.

I picked up an offer booklet at the UA club if anyone wants it. It has a unique invitation code. Same terms, first year free.

I'm sure anyone can grab one from the club lounge by asking, no need to be traveling that day

They're just sitting on the front desk in the clubs right now. Sure you can just come in and ask for one. They offered me the whole stack.

Again though, I'll reiterate that the club has little value unless you're a UA or other Star Alliance flyer. The clubs are after security and are of little use if you're not flying UA. It also burns a Chase app when there are plenty of other good ones out there right now.

IMO, the value of club membership is not the free mediocre liquor, coffee or snacks, but access to agents during irregular ops. So much easier to go in there to get rebooked after a cancellation than to have to stand out in line in the terminal with the other passengers.

Are you sure about that? This site indicates that I only need to show my club card and ID. I went there a few weeks ago, and they never asked for my boarding pass...only frequent flyer number. My frequent flyer number wasn't related to the boarding pass besides by name.

I saw them giving them out at IAH. Anyone that wants one should just stop by and ask for one. They're inside the club but I'm sure the matrons would give you one.

Ahh, makes more sense. They can use the US Airways clubs still, but there aren't too many of them.

interesting someone who works there just gave me a code, maybe the code is just part of the URL?

Plenty of them if you ask at the club.

I would be interested in an unused RSVP code if it is available.
