capnkidd said: Has anyone been able to get higher than 11.7k by transferring available credit from another card?
I just made up the 3.5x CL as red flag. to do much more than that requires a lot of work for me timing all of my legitimate (ie non churning) purchases and trying to not overpay so that less attention is drawn to the useage. Also some banks will delay payments if it is an overpayment, or apply it but make available credit slower to be updated (at least chase did.)
I had to call to get my app finalized because of s security issue but when i got it resolved on the phone they proposed moving a portion from one of my other cards to bring it up to 11.7, they were adamant with me they would not go over the 11.7 total limit for this card. they moved part of a credit line to bring it up to 11.7, but would not budge above that amount. the card they took 8k from from had over a 30k limit.
have you been going at 3.5 times your cl or is that what you are thinking of doing? I'm still in my first month and have been going slow only at 2x so far

Just don't send him anything expecting even a reply.
I know there was a few day delay from when you emailed me and until I got a chance to reply... If you haven't checked your email, then do because I did respond with a very lucrative way to churn. Only ones I didn't respond to were those who told me the standard: tax payments and other non-churning methods (useless methods).
I will confirm that jcohen did reply around the same time as this post, since my last post obviously made it sound like he didn't (which was true at the time). To be fair, I waited until I saw you signed on a few times over a few days prior to making that post. I just didn't want anyone else to send a lot of good information if none would be returned.
As far as whether or not this type of fishing post or private sharing is a good thing to have happen in FWF, there are good arguments for both sides. In this instance, I think we both benefitted, and we all know the FW effect kills good deals. Neither of us shared any holy grail information, people just need to keep their eyes and ears open to everything out there and read between the lines in many FWF posts.

Has anyone figured out a way to have payments and charges post on the weekends?
Right now, it appears that all Friday purchases or payments don't show up as posted until Monday. However once they do show up the post date is the same as the purchase date? Is the charge actually posted, but the website and phone system just haven't updated? I also can't find a view which shows pending charges.
I'm using ACH pushes from my bank account.

I think you're right ironfist. Citi's online dates, and the statements, are basically lying.
... You and I know the card was swiped on Friday, and it didn't post on Citibank until Monday. With normal companies, you'd see a "transaction date" of Friday, and a "posting date" of Monday. citibank will show both as Friday.
It's annoying, but it doesn't have any real effect on my life, I just tut-tut in disapproval and move on.

Citi took 7 days to reinstate my credit limit AFTER the payment was posted. Completely ridiculous.

It was my first payment on this card. I used their online bill pay system. They said it was an "unusually large" payment. It was ~$5K lol.

Just for this I probably justify my citi checking account. The transfer reflects immediately and the limit is made available to me. With my low CL, this feature comes handy to churn.

general rule of thumb if you want your available limit cleared ASAP is to push the payment to them.

I've run into a problem. CITI does not agree that the card I applied for four months ago is eligible for this promo.
Has anyone saved a screen with the offer?

Four months ago would be one month before this thread.

It was three months ago. I applied the second week of April. That's a minor detail.
Now, do you have a scan?

See the screen capture posted by BingBlangBlaow on 4/16. It does not prove that you signed up for that promotion.

I think we'll start to hear more about this come October 2012.
I definitely would be happy to get the offer extended as well. In 3 months, I've already accumulated over 60,000 TYPs

You really are impatient arn't you. The promo period doesn't expire until October, it's unlikely anyone has tried to cancel during the promo period. You know you could always try yourself and report back.

I was instant approved for this Citi Preferred on April 16th. Anyone know the exact date the 5% offer end? Would it be 180 days from approval date, or ending exactly on October 15th? TIA

I assumed it was 6 billing cycles, so whenever the statement cuts this month it will be over. FYI, I was not instantly approved, but my first statement shows that my account was active from the application date, not the approval date. If anyone has any other data points I would be very interested, especially if it is possible to extend the promo by changing the billing date.

When I activated my card I asked the Rep when the 5% promo gonna end, I was told 10/13, so it is 6 month from approve date. (I applied on 4/13, instant approved.) my 6th statement ended 10/5. I'll do some purchase before 10/13, but won't be able to verify until 11/5.

If you call, a CSR can verify your exact promo end date. Mine ended 6 months from application which was a few days after my October statement close date.

It looks like citi is intentionally holding on posting my last big purchase. I made purchase ~$2500 on 10/4 and it has still not posted. It shows under authorized charges. Is it to save 10k thank you points? My promo should expire sometime this month.

Generally, Citi uses approval date, not application date. That's because not everyone gets instant approval. For example, because Citi needed my tax forms through my completing a 4506T, my approval date was a month after my application date. I doubt Citi would cut my promotion period a month short due to factors beyond my control. Was your approval date close to or the same as your application date?
Due to bad or incomplete training, CSRs don't always have the correct information about topics like this.

Due to bad or incomplete training, CSRs don't always have the correct information about topics like this. Mine was approved instantly so they were the same date. The CSR I talked to first tried to determine the promo end date herself by working forward from the application/approval date. But upon pressing her a little further, she went into another system that displayed the actual promo end date for my account.

I don't think so. If it's an online purchase, the credit card is usually not charged until the order is shipped.

I know that. But in my case, the purchase is airline ticket and i got the e-ticket immediately. So, I assumed the charge will post in couple of days.

I do the same. Best redemption value is travel, so it takes me a while to use them down. What's the downside? Just possible devaluation? Do they usually give advanced notice?

no, they don't usually give advance notice when devaluing their program. In fact, they rarely tend to announce such a move. It just happens.
I use my TY points as soon as I can (usually on mortgage or student loan payments).
