What number did you call for Recon? I tried 1-866-606-2961, and they said they had to start a new app and decision would be in 2 days.

Going to the link provided by the initial poster, the only offer is for 15,000 points."Earn 15,000 bonus ThankYou® Points after you make $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months; enough for $150 in gift cards3. " The offer was apparently there yesterday, but not today. Looks like they meant for it to expire 5/3 and it did. Usually, one would expect them to keep the notice of the deadline up so procrastinators feel pressured to act now, but apparently this was not done in this case. Possibly they did not like the applications they were getting. The $250 link goes to the $250 offer still, but I would nto be surprised if it disappeared.
Interestingly, the 10% Charter offer on groceries, drugstores and gasoline has just been reduced to 5%. There is a separate thread on this if anyone things this may be an attractive alternative
If anyone knows of a link for the 5 points per dollar card, it would be appreciated if it was posted.

Wow you're right ProferssorEd - the link was working (5 TY pt per dollar) only hours ago when I applied. Now it shows the 15k bonus.

Warning. I have a sock-drawed card that I never activated the replacement, and it was showing up as flagged in Citi's system, so they declined my application.

I would try calling 800-514-6236 and asking for the promo on the phone. Other Citi expired promos have been gotten this way (AA card for example).

i got my card during the 5% timeframe. according to my online account i have a 0% purchase APR. according to customer service i'm variable at prime plus 13% putting me around 16% right now. to make up for the issue they're giving me the 15,000 bonus TYPs for $1000 spend.
i'm wondering though, was i supposed to get 0% or is it truly a computer error?

Hmm, I applied on 4/24, and was given instant approval. I kept screen shots. Then I have been calling in and they had it on hold because I also applied for the Premier MC 50K bonus card the same day.(I already have a 50K bonus Premier Visa from last fall, an AAdvantage card, etc..)
I called in again and they said I was approved today for the Preferred card. I wonder if there is any chance it won't come with the 5 TYP, since it was approved after it looks this deal went dead? The Premier card is still under review.

I've been told several times by CSRs and supervisors that it's the application date not the approval date that will determine if you qualify for an expired promotion. If you applied before the promotion ended, you should be fine. It's a good idea to take and retain screen shots of the promotion just in case.

I called that number and could not get the old offer. However, they did have a potentially attractive offer. This was 5% on groceries, drugstores, and gasoline for 12 months plus 15,000 Thank you points after spending $1000 in the first three months.
This could be very attractive, especially for those that lack the 6% AMEX card ($75 fee).

For me, the card that arrived in mail yesterday was a "plain" Thank You card, not the Preferred card. To others who have similar experience, can anyone who's actually received a statement confirm that the 5X promo applies to the plain Thank You card?

FYI, I received the email confirmation today stating it is 1 TYP per $. I called the application department and they see that my account is noted with receiving an additional 4TYP's for the first 6 months. So I am getting the 5TYP. I normally wouldn't be calling in, but I have been holding off on some payments to make to use this CC, and if I wasn't getting the 5TYP, I would stop delaying the payments and use a different CC.

Whether your account is listed on the website or not is just a help for you. Your account will be linked in their files regardless. The only difference is that Citi requires the manual step of you adding each account to your webpage. Chase adds them automatically for you.

so, if i have only a 3K CL, will i get in trouble from citi if I charge $3000 every day and pay it off at the same time? I see it takes 2-3 days for charges to even show up online. So it seems like i will be able to charge/pay approx 10 times in a 30 day cycle. (10 X 3K=$30000 =150,000 pts per month) any AA if i pay a large amount(say 4X CL) and have a credit balance so when I do charge my CL becomes available quicker? JUST ASKING

No one knows exactly what causes AA. There are guesses of what causes red flags that leads to them. Credit balances on your account are one of them because they will want to investigate why you have a credit balance which will show all the churning of your CL you are doing.

thank you for the reply, i guess i should stick with charging and paying at the same time, then i won't have a credit balance.
what i am charging $3000 a day for: with all my Cash Back from the chase 5% AARP card, I got a new roof. Now I am charging the roof to the citicard(and then paying it off with my money from chase) so I am getting 5pts per dollar for the thankyou network back on my free 5% Cash Back! or something like that! I love my credit cards! and yes, it was a very expensive roof-$25000 just about what i got from chase!

FYI, I just was approved today as well for the Premier MC I had applied for on the same day back on 4/24. Though they both said online that I was approved, (using different computers in the house). They took several weeks to get them actually approved, due it appears since I applied for two at the same time, and also picked up Chase Priority and USAir card on the same day. So, I end up with two Premier cards, I had Visa from last fall, and this Preferred card. Should have a lot of TYP from these and my wife's two Premier MC/Visa cards.

Like what seems like everyone else who posted, I was given a 11,700 limit. Now 5% on that monthly limit isn't that much money, so I plan on churning the account 5-8x during the course of a month. Does anyone have experience or know if churning with Citi is an issue?
Please don't ask how I am churning my card unless you want to share methods as to how you are churning (ie. 50k+ in a month).

I know there was a few day delay from when you emailed me and until I got a chance to reply... If you haven't checked your email, then do because I did respond with a very lucrative way to churn. Only ones I didn't respond to were those who told me the standard: tax payments and other non-churning methods (useless methods).

Has anyone been able to get higher than 11.7k by transferring available credit from another card?
I just made up the 3.5x CL as red flag. to do much more than that requires a lot of work for me timing all of my legitimate (ie non churning) purchases and trying to not overpay so that less attention is drawn to the useage. Also some banks will delay payments if it is an overpayment, or apply it but make available credit slower to be updated (at least chase did.)
