Just to add my data point: Received card, activated, and made my first purchase on 04/30. 05/01 post date. Statement ending date 05/04. The points were in my RR account on 05/05.

Edit: Before I even got the card, I saw online the first due date would be 06/06 (around 05/09 close date). When I called to activate, I asked if the first due date could be changed from 06/06 to 06/01. The lady said yes, I can do that. Then she said, your first due date will be 07/01 and the statement will close 06/04. I said, wait, I wanted it to be 06/01. She said oh, well, I guess if you make a purchase real soon, it will close on 05/04. Was very doubtful, but she was right.

I had a somewhat similar experience. I received my Southwest card on May 3, 2012, and activated it the same day, and used it on May 4, 2012, to make a $1 purchase from Food4Less. My first statement closed on May 10, 2012 and yesterday I was pleased to see that I got 50,001 points posted into my account: 50,000 bonus points and 1 point for my $1 purchase. I did not adjust the payment due date when the card came. I just used the date they assigned me. On the first online statement it has the first statement period going from April 25, 2012 through May 10, 2012, even though on April 25th I had not yet received the card.

I wasn't sure if I should use the points to get $500 in gift cards from Staples or WalMart but since I got $500 in Staples gift cards (and used them to buy a new desktop computer) from when I opened my United credit card last year I decided to use this $500 in gift cards for WalMart since they sell everything (including food) and have low prices and we're expecting a new addition to out family soon so I thought that would be the wisest choice for this time around.

My wife was approved for a card and I am hoping we will receive her card in the mail on Monday (5/14) and then we can activate it and make a quick purchase on it so she can get her $500 in gift cards, too. I love all this free money.

Made purchase on 5/5, statement cut 5/12.

50,005 points posted to my account yesterday!

Hey Guys, Are these two statements correct concerning this card:

1. You earn 1500 tier points per 10,000 dollars spent up to 15000 tier points

2. You earn 1 companion tier point per dollar spent.

3. Do the double points earned on this card count toward tier points and / or companion tier points?

For those who apply and aren't instantly approved, here is my experience.

5/9 - applied
5/10 through 5/15 - checked application status once a day using number in Wiki, system tells me application is in progress and decision will be mailed
5/16 - system congratulates me, says I'm approved and provides the credit line amount

This is for the $69 fee personal card.

Just got my 50k points on the day of the first statement after I made a $0.99 purchase. This is my second SW card (Opened premier late last year, plus a few weeks ago). 100k points total and eying the biz card.

The only way to get A-list is to travel 25 one way trips, or earn 35000 tier qualifying points. I think you earn 1500 tier points for like every 10k you spend on your card, but you can only earn up to 15k tier qualifying points this way.

Or be an Airtran Elite - they have Elite/A-list reciprocity. So you could fly 6 Airtran round trips in 90 days, get Elite, get A-list.

How long does it take to get the GCs delivered once you have the miles in your account?

Hi Guys.
I applied for this 50,000 program and received a letter saying that they noticed that I have a southwest credit card already.
They want me to call them to ensure that I have the best card.
I am not sure what to do now.

how long did it take for the points to show up on the SW rewards site? I got the statement but no points yet on the SW site. I'm hoping they show up soon as i'm trying to use them this month.

For those who placed an order for $500 in gift cards like myself, if you call the following customer service number they will give you the UPS tracking information so you can track your delivery. She says after the initial e-mail you get after you place your order, they do not e-mail you an e-mail that your order has shipped nor do they e-mail the tracking information, but they will provide it to you if you call and ask. You will need to have your order number that came on the initial e-mail you sent however and be able to verify your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.

If you have questions regarding the order you just placed, please contact our Customer Service department, toll-free at 800-833-4861 Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Central Time.

My gift cards are expected to arrive on Tuesday, so it looks like it takes about 10 days from the day you order to receive them.

When you click on apply now in those links it just leads to a server error page, at least for me the last few days.

try clearing your browser's Cache. i haven't visited either page until right now and they both work fine, both mention 50k.

Actually same situation. It's been 3 days since my statement and I still don't see the points at Southwest. Guess I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch.

Weird, I've tried different browsers and different computers and nothing works. I can see the offer on those pages, but when I click "apply now" it just goes to an error page.

Happened to me too. It looks like these offers expired. The only links I got to work were individual invitations sent to me by email. If you are a Rapid Rewards member, I would search your inbox and see if you can find these invites. I had invites for both Plus and Premier, and was approved for both yesterday/today. Only the Feb./March emails worked though- I initially tried the Premier link from a Jan. email and that link also got me a server error when I tried to apply.

The plus was automatically approved, and I confirmed the Premier was also approved after calling in this morning (website said under consideration). Save the screenshots you applied from in case they try to only give you 25k which is what the more recent links are offering.

Congrats. I wonder why it is taking them 10 days to fill my order and only 4 days for you. What store gift cards did you request? I got WalMart and they were supposedly in stock.

After redeeming the points, how long are you guys keeping the card open?

ymarker said:   After redeeming the points, how long are you guys keeping the card open?

I already paid the annual fee. I'll probably wait a year and see if they'll wave the second year annual fee.

rated:

Someone had mentioned if you cancel in 60d, they refund you the fee. Ofcourse there is always the risk of them black listing you. A fine line to walk...

Trying to apply for another southwest business card and get the message:

I applied in late April.
Got the card on the 7th.
Called and activated and set the statement to close on May 10th.
I made a purchase on May 8th.
Statement closed on the 10th and I made the full payment on May 14th.

No points have shown up. Did I need to make the payment PRIOR to the statement closing?
or should I possibly call them up to see whats holding things up?

Did the purchase post on the May 10 statement?
There have been posts stating that purchases made and posted close to the closing date have sometimes not triggered the bonus Text; you may have to wait for another statement or call.

The purchases posted on May 8th.
The statement closed on May 10th.
When I go on Chase.com and view the actual closed statement PDF, those charges and the annual fee show up on that PDF statement.

However, the payment I made does not show up there. It shows up on the 'recent activity".

I was wondering if I made a mistake and needed to have made that payment before the statement closed as well.

Should I call or does this look normal?

It has nothing to do with payment. Just the purchase posting. This could be simply a case of being too close to statement closing as was in the linked post. If you want to be sure call and check. Or just wait for another statement.

The first place you will see the points is on the statement from Chase. A few days later they will show up at Southwest. If they aren't on the statement, they won't be at SW.
