You should also get a business version, so you get 100k points, then figure out a way to earn another 10k points and you wife can fly free for the rest of this year, and all of next year when you buy a ticket with your points. and where is that link for the 100K points?
It took only about a month for me from the time I got the card until I got my points. As noted earlier, you can change your statement due date to be earlier because I think first statement is what triggers your points. For example, if you apply for the card April 19, ask that your statement due date be made the 30th - that should close first statement very quickly. I got my card on the 10th but my due date wasn't for another month, so it took longer.

Its not 100k on its own. You get 50k from the personal card, and 50k from the business card for a total of 100k. If you can get to 110k points in any given calandar year you earn a companion pass that is good for the current year and the following year. This pass allows the one person who you name as your companion to fly for free anytime you purchase a ticket.

They say that, but I got mine earlier.
Also I called today about getting the bumped up points and they went ahead and processed it. Thanks a lot guys!
If your smart, you can get your first statement to post like a week after you get your card. I got my business card in the mail Monday, and when I called to activate it I moved my due date up, and as a result I got my statement date to be next Monday. So I should have my points around 7-10 days after I received my card, or around 20 days from the time I applied.
Just remember to have them move you due date up, which moves your statement date. I think my Statement date is on the 21st, which coincides with a due date of the 18th the following month. So if I was activating today, I would request a due date around the 20-22nd of next month, so my statement day was the middle of next week which gives enough time for a transaction to clear.
Is there just one Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards number assigned per address? I signed myself up for an account number and then tried signing up the DW and when the approval screen shows up it has my number and name. Can I just have both cards post the points to the same account?

Also dont u also need to wait 6 months after last Chase app? check creditboards.com creditpulls, they list credit scores for apps. You do not need to wait 6 months between Chase apps. If you get a declination, call reconsideation, typically works.

Technically the Rapid rewards account is per PERSON not address. So if you get an account you setup your own RR number, and then if your wife gets an account, she should setup her own. I know some people use the same number, but thats technically against the terms of the RR account agreement.
Im interested in the gift cards. Do I really need a Rapid Rewards account to redeem points? It's not like a chase ultimate rewards account or something?

you need a rapid rewards account to redeem points. How else do you expect to get 50k Rapid Rewards Points?

Yes. You dont get chase ultimate reward points, you get Rapid reward points. If you start a rapid rewards account now, you wont be able to see the gift card section since its only available to RR CC holders who have their account linked. Once you get the CC you will be able to see the giftcards, and they are on the rapid rewards site, no chases site.
I have just the Personal Premier ($99 af) card opened last year. I think I'm going to apply for the Plus ($69) and perhaps a business card...for my lawn mowing business.......it sounds like others have had success opening multiple of these cards.

Chase can be finicky but usually a quick reconsideration phone call can resolve. If you get pending screen, try calling one of the Chase reconsideration numbers 888-270-2127. ymmv

I signed up last night and it said additional processing required. I called today and they said declined. He said it was because I just got a chase freedom and a slate in february and I cancelled a Rapid rewrds card in 2011. He was questioning me as to why I needed or wanted this card.
He finally put me on hold and found an old business chase card that I still have apparently and pulled 5K from it to open this card and did so. I didn't even recall having that card.
I was gonna go for the business card as well, for 1000 in Lowes GCs and a complete bathroom redo, but after that grueling I doubt it would fly.

I'm getting the same thing "Due to a technical error, we are unable to process your application. You may try to submit your application again or try again later if the problem continues.
I have a Southwest Visa that I signed up around 8 years ago, and I've been using it since then. It has a $69 annual fee, with no annual bonus miles. If I apply for the Premier card ($99 annual fee and an annual 6k mile bonus), do you think I'll be approved for another non-business SW Visa, and if so, will I get the 50k bonus miles?
Has anyone used their own miles for themselves and kids/spouse? I've heard for other carrier's they make you sell them to kids/spouse and in the process the value diminishes.
I've found on sw rapid rewards site (but I am wondering it there is other fine print that I haven't found yet):
Can I book travel with points for other Passengers (not me)? Yes. The Rapid Rewards Member who owns the account from which the points will be used will need to make the reservation for the person traveling. Simply get the destination, travel dates, and flight times from the person who will be using your points and log in to your account at southwest.com to book the reward travel. Reward travel is subject to the government-imposed September 11th Security Fee of up to $10 per roundtrip, which must be paid with a credit card.

You most likely wont get instantly approved, but if you call the reconsideration line, and tell them what you said in your post, I bet they will cancel your old card, and move that credit line over to the new card, and approve it.

You can buy a ticket for anyone with your points, just put in their name when you buy it.

Applied, not instantly approved. Sorry if I missed this info somewhere, but what's the number for the reconsideration line?

Just because you weren't instantly approved doesn't mean you WEREN'T approved. I applied for my recent SW Chase card on a Saturday and also wasn't "instantly approved." I received my card in the mail the following Tuesday - that's how I knew I'd been approved.
I have a few questions. I'm separated and my credit is pretty lousy because of it. My ex's is better and he agreed to apply for the card, because the miles will be used to take our kids to Disney. How do using the miles work? If he doesn't go on the trip can we still use the miles? Or does he have to ask for a card with my name on it too? Also on the business cards, we had a business (hasn't been active in a few years). Can we still apply for a business card? How does that work? The reason I ask is because we have started to get CC offers in the mail again on the business. I figure if we can get it, the extra miles would be great.
ETA-sorry, just saw the answer to one of my questions above. He can book the kids' flights, or anybody else's for that matter. Hmmm. . . I might ask my Mom to sign up too.
