kwest said: I have just the Personal Premier ($99 af) card opened last year. I think I'm going to apply for the Plus ($69) and perhaps a business card...for my lawn mowing business.......it sounds like others have had success opening multiple of these cards.
Update: Opened a Personal Premier in August '11. Just applied for the Personal Plus yesterday with a deferred decision. I called this morning, and the automatic status line said I was APPROVED for 12k. Credit score in the mid/high 700s.
Also interesting because when I opened the AARP card in Dec '11, they required me to move credit limits around to keep my aggregate exposure at $30k. However, this approval did not require that and my aggregate exposure is now $42k despite a ~10% reduction in reported income on the app. Just some data for those of you who find it useful.
Received instant approval on a personal credit card. Not sure if I want the gift cards or flights. I just got back from Japan using the American Air promotion for 50,000 miles and don't know if I really need to be taking another trip right now.
As a data point, for Biz reconsideration I was asked: Name of Business Type of business Years in business # of employees Gross and net revenue in 2010 Gross and net revenue in 2011 Revenue YTD Expected 2012 revenue Expected monthly charges going forward
10 minutes on the phone, including a few on hold, approval received!

The second app for one person, whether it be personal or business, will be flagged for denial based on the fact that 2 apps were received and it will likely be viewed by the computer as a mistake. Not sure what the wait time is for that not to happen. Yes, you can have your spouse apply separately and be approved if it's their first. 2nd apps close together for one individual will require a reconsideration call but with good credit are likely to be approved as well.
Got approved for the Hyatt card like 3 days ago with a 18.5k CL so I guess worst case I can call the reconsiderations line and have them shift some of the CL to this card.
Say I get two of the cards and total 100k points. If my wife signs up for a card in her name, can the bonus points be applied to the same Rapid Rewards account so that account now has 150k points and qualifies for a companion pass?

99% no... the rapid rewards acct must match the cardholder name.
Also, I'd be surprised if those points count toward companion pass on purpose... opening 2 credit cards basically nets you thousands of dollars of free flights for over a year and a half?

Why not each get two of the cards and get 100k each. Then earn another 10k each and you each have 110k points and each other as a companion. (Not sure if you can actually name each other as a companion, but don't see anything to the contrary.)
On another note, applied yesterday and verified I was approved today. Thanks OP!

They do count towards companion pass.
I get that they count... I just am not sure thats as intended... it basically makes opening these credit cards worth about 1000-5000 bucks a piece depending on how often you fly.
I'm certainly not complaining. I'm already at 60k for the year so this 50k will put me at companion pass.
Do they also count towards A-list preferred?
ETA: You can trick CP into double ticketing you... so your imaginary friend sits next to you, and you always have an open middle seat, even on sold out flights. Theres a thread on flyertalk about it.
Double edit: Never mind, that only works if you're huge and have to buy 2 seats.

As of a couple days ago you can now convert Southwest points to AirTran credits at the rate of 1200 points per credit. You can then re-convert those AirTran credits back to the old pre-Rapid Rewards 2.0 credits at a rate of 1 to 1. By doing this you can trigger the creation of new "Standard Awards" on Southwest. So in reality, 50000 pts can mean 2 Round trip Standard Awards (19200 pts each) with 10600 points leftover. I value this at considerably higher than $833.

Of course with the caveat that the Standard Award tickets are far more limited; call and check if the flight you need is available for redemption using Standard Awards. Redeeming points is far easier since there are no such restrictions.

They wouldnt give me them both at the same time, but what they did do, is close one, and then open a new one.

I got a Premier last October that is still open and just opened a Plus a week ago (approved 1 day after initial deferral).

I got a Premier last October that is still open and just opened a Plus a week ago (approved 1 day after initial deferral). I too am biding time to go for Premier as well. From what I've read so far, it appears that at least a 30 day wait may be the magic number to apply for the other card.
I thought it was just too good to be true, so I read the Southwest rules for a companion pass. Points earned through program enrollment, etc., etc., do not count toward companion class status.
Well I just set mine up and it only shows the 250 for enrollment currently awarded to me. I'm thinking if you just sign up for the email summary and the email update, they'll award those sometime after.
I'm not sure if you can get the other 500 if you already signed up for those things.

Thats what it says, but ask people that have did it before, and the chase points count.

I only applied for biz... also only filled out the required fields with red by them.

Congratulations. Your application has been approved. You will receive your card and complete account information within 2 weeks by mail. Please close this window. If you don't, someone could access your personal information by using the "Back" button on your browser. Thank you for applying!
EDIT: Uh-oh. I used the pre-fill feature because I already have a Chase account ID but I forgot to enter my SWA frequent flyer number. Do you know what is the best way to enter this information after the fact? Should I call Chase customer service and have them add the SWA frequent flyer number information or what? Any advice? Maybe I should wait until the account shows up in my Chase account profile before calling.

Also dont u also need to wait 6 months after last Chase app? check creditboards.com creditpulls, they list credit scores for apps. You do not need to wait 6 months between Chase apps. If you get a declination, call reconsideation, typically works.
I applied for my wife also and they did not give her instant approval. Is it best to wait 10 days for a letter with their decision or is it best for my wife to call the reconsideration line now? Should I call immediately or give it a day or two? What kind of questions will they ask if she calls the reconsideration line? I am not sure what her credit score is. She only has one credit card and has just had that credit card for about 18 months, but she rarely uses it. She has only been in the country for nearly three years. I made a mistake when I was applying for her online. When it asked about her employment, I accidently put she has been working for three years at her job when in actuality she has only worked there for about 18 months (I put how long she has been in America instead by mistake). Maybe they know when Social Security numbers are issued and were able to figure out she couldn't have been working there for three years with that SS#. Do you think they crosscheck that thoroughly or do you think her application wasn't instantly approved due to other reasons (only had a credit file established for 18 months, maybe not a high enough credit score, etc.) Maybe because of that error, it is best just to let them accept or deny the application on their own without calling.
