Just received this info from AMEX so I figured I would share.
When Cardmembers register an eligible American Express® Card, they will get a one-time $10 statement credit the first time they use that Card to spend $10 or more at a small business in the Boston, Chicago or Philadelphia metro areas between June 21st and July 4th, 2012.* Cardmembers must either add the offer to their synced Card via Facebook, Twitter, or foursquare, or register an eligible Card at shopsmallnow.com before using that Card to take advantage of the offer. The one-time $10 statement credit is automatically processed by American Express on eligible transactions and there is no cost to your business.

Will be eager to see what Boston, Chicago, or Philly "presence" opportunities for online purchases are out there, for those of us not located in those areas.

Exactly what I was thinking. I was surprised at the different options available for the Austin CB, so this should be like shooting fish in a barrel.

It brings me to the page and I can 'sync' my card w/FB or Twitter, but I've already done that...so it is telling me I've already synced a card w/my acct. Haven't been able to sync for this offer. Not sure what to do!
Worked for me. I followed the link at the top of the page and put in my info to register my card. I received a confirmation email immediately after. After I registered it, I was presented with the links to further sync my card with FB, Twitter, and Foursquare.

You need to enter a valid ZIP code. One for the Boston area is 02110. Then you will be able to click the link at the top of the page and register. Good Luck!

alternatively, go to your FB account, click on the Link>like>love app from AMEX, and if you are in the states listed above, you'll get a offer to load it on your card.

Like the PP mentioned -- go to the App on Facebook. You can change the location to the zipcode given above and it'll show up in your offers!

also, FB gives better links to what places qualify depending on zip code. I'm in Chicago, and the website linked by OP doesn't work well. Just found out the coffee shop I frequent is on this, so looks like a easy one for me. Thanks OP!

Offer doesn't seem to be visible via Twitter like past deals that were on TW, FB, and FS. I don't think I ever synched my card with FB (just TW)...
Facebook was definitely an easier way to register once you "change location". The link that was in the info I got from AMEX looks like its not ready for the public...though it did work for me.

Looks like this deal is synched with FourSquare. Just checked into a lunch place in Chicago and it unlocked the ShopSmall deal. Just need to click to load it to card.
I had previously synched my AMEX to my FourSquare acct for previous deals.

Signed up a couple of days ago, and used AMEX at a seafood restaurant in Quincy, MA which was on their list. By the time I got home, there was already an email from AMEX saying that I used the card at that place, and that my $10 credit would be issued within 5 days (I think they said).

Abt is in zip 60025. It seems like this should qualify since it has one location and is owned by a husband and wife.

Finally now see this can be linked via twitter--
#AmexShopBos #AmexShopPhi #AmexShopChi
Since it's 3 separate twitter hashtags, it appears to be 3 separate offers. So, we'll see.

the real question is, how far does the metro area stretch? I've found restaurants as far out as > 45 miles from Boston that I frequent... might give it a shot if I run out of places in the Boston area.

Click over to http://www.shopsmallnow.com/, enter the zip code and hit OK. If a banner shows up above "Want $10 back from AMEX...", then you should likely be good to go.

I never got a notification from AMEX after visiting a cafe listed in my zipcode. But a few days later, I saw the credit appearing online.

I found a website that sells online in Philly. I can't get their shopping cart to work though.
Worked great here for the Philly promo and that address is a good 30 miles north of the city in the suburbs.

Nice catch. I checked the locations I went today with the twitter map, and they show up as being eligible with the "GET $10 WHEN YOU SPEND $10" text. I had registered with the link posted here and did not get an instant reply back like in the past with the other promotions once the transactions went through, but I will monitor my cards for the credit.

Had a lot of trouble with 3 different browsers getting the link to work. Here is the direct link to sign up for Boston. I imagine the link will be similar for the other cities.
If you have a dog I highly recommend Polka Dog Bakery in Boston, though $10 may only cover the shipping.
ironfist99 said: balsalm9 said: The promo says that it is not good for online purchases. Is there a way for them to check this?
They can tell if it was a swipe or a key in, along with MCCs showing internet based business.
Obviously, choose a business with a B&M presence. Is this enough? Will putting in a phone order work? Or is that yet a third thing (i.e. Swipe, key-in and internet)?
