"To qualify, you must Open Online and use promo code Online125Bonus "
Not sure about the phrase "available only to the individual to whom this online offer was presented" since I saw this offer on the yahoo homepage (wasn't signed in to yahoo). Need to open with $50 and do $500 in DD and 10 Visa checkcard transactions within 60 days of account opening.
*$125 incentive offer is non-transferable, may not be combined with any other offer, and available only to the individual to whom this online offer was presented, who cannot already have a Regions checking account. Limit one incentive per household. To receive this incentive, by September 30, 2012 you must open a new Regions checking account and have payroll or government direct deposits of at least $500 and at least 10 Visa® CheckCard transactions in the first 60 days. After all requirements have been met, incentive will be issued within 90 days of this date and will be in the form of a credit to the new checking account, which must be open at the time the credit is issued. All deposit accounts are subject to the Regions Deposit Account Agreement. A $50 minimum opening deposit is required to open a LifeGreen Checking account. A monthly fee may apply to your checking account, depending on account type, but may be waived if certain criteria are met. For accounts opened in Iowa, this fee is subject to Iowa State Sales Tax of 6%, which will be assessed at the time the fee is charged, unless exempt.
Update: Once again they have removed any mention of an opening deadline so looks like it is back open for the indefinite future.
Don't have a Regions checking account? We'll give you $150 when you open a LifeGreen Checking Account* online. All you need to do is use promo code RS150Bonus, have at least $500 in total Direct Deposits and at least 10 Visa® CheckCard transactions in the first 60 days.

I added the Regions Bank footprint map to the quick summary but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't take advantage of this offer if you live outside the physical service area (about half of the offers I have participated in did not require that you be in their physical footprint). Did not see anything regarding having to be in this region in the promotion details. Maybe someone from outside the service area can report on whether or not they were able to sign up under the offer.

Going through the application process, I hit "Regions only opens accounts for residents in our 16 state footprint".
Thanks anyways.

I've never done a deal like this. I'm wondering how hard it would be if the deal was nationwide and I wanted to close an account after I fulfilled the requirements and received the bonus? Could I close an account online? Would I have to call them? I don't think they would need you to go one of their branches.
If anyone would share their experience, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

The screen seems to indicate that the the initial funding can be from a credit card. Yummy.
Anyone know the maximum? I have some minimum credit card spend to satisfy.
Also, the obvious question of whether any reports of a cash advance fee.
Thanks.

Good question, just spoke with a CSR that says there is no credit pull, just Chexsystems. Also says that credit card funding is processed as purchases but can't guarantee how card issuer will categorize transaction.

Also just spoke with CSR and was told that $500 DD can be any ACH deposit.
So to avoid the $10 monthly fee, just ACH $1,500 and do Check Card transaction 10 times.

The opening process is pretty easy but the worst thing is "One incentive per household".

I just opened the account. I guess I can go to the branch if I want to close the account after since they have quite a few branches near me. I did not fund the account with a credit card because I was afraid that I'd have to pay interest if the card issuer considered it a cash advance transaction.
Seems like a cool $100 for me (after tax). Thanks OP!

So could a $500 of direct deposit each month be sufficient?

Not yet, I am doing what jcd123 suggested - the $1500 non payroll ACH for the bonus (and to avoid monthly fee) and 10 check card transactions. If a few weeks go by with no bonus I'll do a payroll DD just to be safe. From what I've been told (and the CSR could be wrong) any $500 ACH should trigger the bonus while the $500 payroll/government DD would be to avoid the monthly fee. We'll see.

Thanks, that's what I saw too after being told that there is no limit to inital cc funding by CSR (just serves as a reminder that you can't rely on anything you're told over the phone).

CSR's say no on the Regions Bank side (submits as purchase) but can't promise how credit card issuer will characterize. Chase or Barclay's cards are *probably* ok but I've heard Citi is bad about processing everything submitted by a bank or FI as a cash advance. No data points reported yet.

I'm trying to set up a direct deposit to satisfy the direct deposit requirements for the bonus but can't get the account # from CSR on the phone, I don't want to spend any money to order checks, and I don't see the account # online or with any docs I've received so far. Has anyone gotten their account number anyway other than going into a branch?

I was having the same problem till I called and got a helpful CSR who told me to log in, go to "Customer Service", then "My Profile", then 'Edit Account Name" to find it. I have no idea why they make it such a convoluted process to find your account number, but it works.

I find it odd that I've heard Regions advertising on both Los Angeles radio and TV stations, but when I've contacted them they won't open an account because I don't live in their marketing area.

If I deposit $1500 to avoid the monthly fee, then do $500 monthly ACH transactions (not DD) I should be good right??? I hate to go through all this for a few months then end up not being qualified..... been there, done that!

Seems like that would be overkill but yes.

Actually, those are the terms just to avoid any kind of monthly maintenance fee. To get the $125 bonus you would need the following (from the term's posted in the original post):
"To receive this incentive, by September 30, 2012 you must open a new Regions checking account and have payroll or government direct deposits of at least $500 and at least 10 Visa® CheckCard transactions in the first 60 days. "
In 4 1. Thanks OP. Lets see if I will get the bonus.

Say, if I use US Bank credit cards such as the PhlexPurks Travel Rewards Visa to fund the account up to $1K, will US Bank slap on the hefty fee of 4%? Will they see this as a "cash financial institution" or "cash equivalent advance" transaction? Any recent experiences?
