In 2011, I did this promotion, made a $500+ deposit from my Electric Orange and got the bonus.
In December 2012, I did it again, with a deposit from Electric Orange of exactly $500. No bonus. January 2012, I made a $500+ DD from a business account and got the bonus within a week. Apparently ING Electric Orange in the Chase account holder's name doesn't work as a DD qualifier any more.
I bought a 200 checking bonus code off of fleabay. Just got the bonus 7 days after doing a USAA and AP. Probably either will trigger since both indicate "ACH credit".

In my experience, AP did not trigger the bonus.
BTW, I can't believe how many people are still asking for the damn coupon code in this thread.

The coupon receipt showed for me only after I printed the signature card.
