I got approved for $7000 and called to have it reduced to $3000 and they said the minimum CL was $5K. I have way too much opened CL with basically 0% used. Canceling cards and reducing CL's has never affected my CS even a point. I get a temporary drop of 3-4 points (I'm in the high 700's) with each approval but it comes back quite fast. Could be because of 45+ years of perfect credit history.

I know I am approved, once I have the card in my hand I will call about the $50 offer. Got the card, and called. It said that I do have the promotion of $50 credit. She wanted to me to fax the offer to prove the $50 promotion.

After no success getting this promotion "off-The-Ground" with the internet, I went to the local Chase bank. They couldn't come close to as good a promotion. I thought this project might just be a waist of time (wrong!). After getting back on the computer this evening, suddenly, step-by-step, it all fell together. The $50 statement credit didn't get posted with the Chase promotion, but I can live without it. We cancelled our last United Mileage Plus Explorer Visa cards 30 days ago. To say the very least, we have been very happily surprised. Question: Whats a good source for information on how to satisfy the minimum spending requirement (within 3-months) for these cards?

If you send them a secure message online they should be able to give you the $50 statement credit

Let's see. My CS is 750. 3 credit cards/2 bank accounts opened last month. Closed 2 old cards. Have 1 card with a utilization of 90%, (Damn you Crapital ONE) I actually paid it off already but they didn't update my payment. Listed $55k as annual salary (should have done more). It's true that in past $5k has always my lowest limit. It's funny that I got so low, not that I'll be using this card much. Still glad I won't have to use the reconsideration line.

I got a "We need to review your application to make a decision." message. Is this typically a reject?

Wow, I called them and got approved for $22k. Yes, that is 22k.

P.S. Should I try to get it reduced?

$50. statement credit?.....................I was not able to bring-up the the promotional page which included a "statement credit" but I did try. I called 1-888-245-0625 (reconsideration). They transferred me to a Chase card services specialist with United Airlines. Here is the real deal: The $50 statement credit ONLY applies to the purchase of a United Airlines ticket purchased immediately after completing the credit card application. The CSR said it was some where in the fine print. She did make a note that if I buy a ticket this year, 5k miles would be credited to my account. I told her she did a better job of explaining the statement credit than the United site did, & THANKED her.

Who would I call if I entered the wrong address when I started (zip code off by a digit)? Fixed it immediately in the following pages but I don't have too much faith in these people catching errors these days.

Maybe you're new at this, but here goes, "Never call".

Did you follow the instruction on front page? I was able to pull it first try. Don't believe anything the Reps say. Chase's generally pretty good at honoring/crediting bonuses. I have done this with the Continential One Pass card, and the $50 + 5000 points added accordingly with no follow up.

Well, then you thanked the United rep for being wrong.

Offer page states:

Enjoy a $50 statement credit after your first purchase with the MileagePlus Explorer Card. The introductory $50 credit is not tied to this United reservation and will be applied to your statement 6-8 weeks after your first purchase with the Card.

And offer details further state:

$50 Statement Credit:
With this bonus offer you will qualify and receive a $50 statement credit after your first purchase. First purchase does not include using your account for balance transfers or cash advances, or using any checks that access your account. After qualifying, please allow 6 to 8 weeks for statement credit to post to your account. This one-time bonus offer is valid only for first-time United MileagePlus Visa cardmembers with new accounts. Previous and existing United MileagePlus Visa cardmembers/accounts are not eligible for this bonus offer.

So in neither place does it mention that the $50 must be a United purchase.

If I get approved for the card, I'll wait the 6-8 weeks and if I don't see the credit, I'll call Chase.

Chris.

P.S. I just called the 888-245-0625 reconsideration line, and am glad I did. My application was blocked because I already have eight Chase cards, and had hit the max credit they'd extend me. I had them close out an idle account and they were able to issue me the United card for a $13K C/L. I feel 50K miles + $50 richer!

And you have recent activity on your United miles account? How long did you wait between causing activity and checking for the link?

Does anyone know the thread or answer to how many applications each bank will accept in a certain period of time? I forgot what they were and can't figure out how to search for that...thanks.

I applied for this and got it, and was interested in the southwest deal maybe for my business, but I didn't want to push the envelope

Did you submit the app and get approval or denial? C/S for approval. Reconsideration if denial.

No, but your relationship with Chase may be. YMMV

I've done 2 personal and 1 business app on the same day & have gotten them all (after a recon call).

A multi-step process for me, since to avoid the $95 annual fee I cancelled last year's free card with them just last week. To get the 50K and $50 I:

0. Did the bckstgr.com Facebook sign-up, as suggested (made sure the mail setting was for me only, not my friends list)
1. Switched from FF to Chrome, and cleared the Cache.
2. Went to my UAL mileage plus acct.
3. Went to UAL's credit card tab.
4. Pasted in the /MPYoureIn50k50AFWIC.aspx segment of the URL in the address box. Left the first part of the address intact.
5. Filled in the application.
6. Received instant notice that I had been approved.

Many, many thanks to the OP and others for comments. When I cancelled last year's card, Chase only offered to let me pay for the fee with miles. Bah!

Under the terms, you technically do not qualify as you previously had the card, but will be interesting to see if they give it to you anyway.

My understanding is that with Chase, it's one application every six months. This matches my own experience; before the 5% disappeared, applied for the AARP card at around five months since my last app and was told "no, because you've applied for a similar Chase rewards card (Sapphire in my case) recently." Same for DW. Some posters have recently suggested more generous time-frames for Chase, but I'm sticking with the one-every-six-months.

Just FYI for everyone, transferring UR points from Chase to United works instantly, and also counts for activity. Prior to transferring, I got only the 30k offer. About 5 minutes after transferring the 50k + $50 statement credit popped up.

Chrome would not see this change through a simple reload - probably would have to clear Cache for it to update.

IE did see the change. I applied, and was deferred. It'll be a miracle if I do get it, considering I just cancelled my old United MP card in December...

Edit: Approved with a low limit. Doesn't matter though, as it's high enough to hit the bonus! Wife was also approved instantly today using the same method I just outlined.

Call the reconciliation number in the op and they can tell you what is up.

A note for those who also applied for the Chase Southwest cards...

Chase has a limit of two applications within 30 days and will reject any additional apps. So if you applied for both the personal and business cards for Southwest, you'll need to wait.

Alternatively if you're afraid the deal won't last 30 days you can apply for this anyways, keep the rejection letter, and call in for reconsideration within 30 days of the United app but outside of the 30 days from the Southwest app. This is what I'll be doing.

They will let you open more then 2 cards in a 30 day period. I opened two SW cards, and a sapphire card all in the same day. You just wont be instantly approved, and will have to call the reconsideration number.

Cool!! I actually asked this question in the Southwest thread only to see it answered here. I guess I'll apply for Southwest card today after getting the MileagePlus card approved yesterday.

Is there any way to get this card if unemployed and no current income? Will the rejection affect adversely on the credit history?

They do ask for your current income, so unless you are willing to put in your "Expected" current income it seems tough. That being said, if youput down that you are a student, there are people who are reporting success. If you don't get instant approved try the reconciliation number in the OP.

The downside of getting rejected is pretty low. A minor bump on your credit for a few months at most. Unless you are planning to try to take out a mortgage in the near future, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

We need to review your application to make a decision.

Here's what you can expect:

Our goal is to notify you in writing within 10 days; however, in some circumstances it may take up to 30 days.
If we approve your application, we'll send your card and other important information in the mail.
Please do not resubmit this application.

Called them up and I agreed to split my current chase credit limit with this card and was approved.

I also applied for the Southwest Airlines Chase Visa card yesterday and got approved for another 19k. I just hope that these have been approved with the correct promos.

Also, do the 3 months start from the activation date or the approval date? Since I applied for both the United MileagePlus and SouthWest RR Plus to get both offers, I have to spend 3k within 3 months to get both offers. How long can I delay activating one or the other to increase the time within which I have to reach the spending limit. For e.g. Can I activate the United card this week, Activate the southwest card on Feb 15th, thereby getting say 4 months to spend the 3k?

Sorry for the noob questions.
