I think its required by law now to have to make a min payment. No more of the 18 months no interest no payments deals.

tl;dr: upgraded a visa platinum and cash rewards mastercard platinum to the corresponding quicksilver platinum versions through offers already visible on my accounts.

full text: just adding my luck here--called in and had the offer to go to a quicksilver platinum mastercard (i repeatedly verified it's not the quicksilver one mc with the annual fee), was told it'll take the usual 7-10 business days for the new card, and she wasn't sure if it'd have the same image.

called a second time, got a young-sounding "senior" account specialist to ask if there was a world mc version. he wound up transferring me back over to the conversion department, where the guy seemed helpful but relatively clueless. he told me there was a $5000 minimum for world (this card is at $4900) and that i could do the automated cli but he couldn't do that for me, and that even afterwards that there would be no guarantee i'd get upgraded to the world because that's something mastercard determines, and gave me the number for mc benefits questions (800.MCASSIST).

called a third time, got a younger black woman who took a while but verified that there is no world mc version of the quicksilver, just the quicksilver one mc and the quicksilver visa signature version previously mentioned (both on the website), but verified that mine was a platinum mc version with no af. eventually had her look at my one other really old visa platinum i never use ($500, my first cc) which also had the same quicksilver platinum upgrade on it, which i took.

got transferred back into the main menu and couldn't get to an automated cli system, so got an older, hispanic-sounding rep who took a while to find the same information already stated (cli can be requested online or through the automated ibr system), so i explained that i did it online for the first card i upgraded, that the site no longer gave me the option for the second card.

got transferred back into the system again, finally got a guy who explained what to say at the menu prompts ("more options," "credit limit increase"). asked him to stay on until i got to that point; he didn't say anything (i assume he can't warm transfer), but finally got to the prompt and entered zip and birthday, and no additional information was asked for. got the "letter in 10 business days" message, finally hung up.

Received in the mail a few days after requesting rewards upgrade:

"Good news about your Quicksilver Cash Rewards card upgrade.

Dear xxxx xxxx:
Good news! Your Quicksilver upgrade is underway! If your new card hasn't arrived yet, it should be coming any day now. And it's loaded with these great features:

Sounds good! (Still waiting to get the card, though.)

Was the card you converted a Visa or MC?

I was able to convert a Mastercard to the Quicksilver. Was told by the rep that they could not convert a Mastercard to a Visa. He assured me that the card will be the same as the Visa, except it will have the Mastercard Logo.

Your account will be upgraded to a Capital One Quicksilver Platinum card. You will receive 1.5% Cash Back on all net purchases within the next 7-10 business days. By agreeing to these account changes, you will need to wait 6 months before you can participate in any special offers from Capital One

Thanks. I'd like to convert my MC to Quicksilver, so I do not have to wait for the extra 0.5% CashBack.

Edit: Just changed my MC from "Cash Rewards" to Quicksilver. Will still be a MC, with same account number, though they did say they had to send a new card.

Visa. (Just received the card in the mail today, by the way. Exact same account number, although the numbers are smaller, biased towards one corner, and not is embossed (so a little different physically than the old style card.) Looking forward to hassle-free 1.5% Cash Back!

The rep yesterday warned me about the new cards. Said they seem a bit thinner, and do not have the raised numbers. Also mentioned if I changed the image, it will be more like a normal card.

They turned my old Orchard 2% card into this (didn't request it). They look a lot like the Capital One 360 Debit Card (if you picked one of those during the July 4th deal). I guess visually it's an improvement over the almost comical completely generic black "Platinum Card" they replaced it with right after taking over, but it still doesn't look or feel like a real card. More like those fake ones they include occasionally with snail mail credit card offers "This could be your card!".

dollarshort said:   As a data point, she did say that the reason I don't have any offers on my account could be because I haven't used the card in a while, which is true. I never use that card because it doesn't have any rewards, which is the reason I wanted to get a product change in the first place.Funny

Just called and got my card converted as well. My anniversary with the 1.5% was last month so I won't be missing out on much spending. Looking forward to the immediate 1.5%.

I agree. I think selecting a different image from their website will fix that.

How long after the anniversary date does it take to get the 0.5% bonus on the CashBack Card?

Anyone ever convert a business capital one card to a personal card?

expired said:   Anyone ever convert a business capital one card to a personal card?Has that ever worked for ANY issuer? I doubt it.

After you receive you're reward, your 50% bonus automatically appears in your reward statement.
even if you convert to Quicksilver your 50% reward will appear after you receive your next annual reward.

  source?

rep told me the 50% is lost

I just got the PFCU Defender card, which is 1.5% back on everything.

It is AMEX though.

Is this card new?  Never heard of it.

Edit:  Ah, it's military only.

Tried converting from Visa Platinum and was denied straight up for no reason.

Try again and ask for a reason? I had platinum too.

I did.. she said she's "unable to do that at this time"... my Visa Platinum is from 2004 and has no rewards.

Had the HSBC Cash Back card and this is what CapOne sent to replace it. Also have the HSBC 5% gas/grocery card, hope they don't try to replace that one.

I got a Quicksilver recently and changed the card image shortly after receiving the original card. Now my card and the account online say "Visa Platinum", but I'm still getting 1.5% Cash Back. Strange.

Update: statement cycled, and looks like 1.5% rewards are working.

Also, DW just upgraded her $10kCL CapOne Visa 1.25% cash rewards card to the 1.5% quicksilver, and also just got her card in the mail.

I was able to upgrade my Capital One Platinum MasterCard (2% gas/groceries, 1% everything else) to the Quicksilver Rewards MasterCard (no annual fee) She said I was just upgrading my rewards program and not the actual card. I verified that there would be no annual fee on the card and no hard credit pull. She said a new card would be mailed to me.

I originally wanted to upgrade a Sony Visa Rewards card that I have through them (it wasn't originally opened through them but was bought out a few years ago) but she said I couldn't do that.

I just received the forced conversion letter. If you PCed, then most likely annual 50% is lost (from 1.25% -> 1.5% No Hassle Cash conversion, I was told that 0.25% will be lost if I don't wait until anniversary). If it's a forced conversion (my case), the letter states that it'll be credited by Dec 15th. I'll attache the letter. Letters of both VISA & MC (no AF from the beginning) are identical.

I converted my card (with a limit well above $5k) to QuickSilver and received a World Mastercard...

i was pretty irritated by this as my limit on my cash rewards was $4900 and i converted to a regular platinum mastercard (although the card doesn't actually say platinum beneath the logo, like i would expect)..

apparently their reps have no way of checking for a pre-approved cli, and i was of course denied for one because i hadn't used it the past three months (although at least their process apparently requires no hard pull, even though the rejection letter i received looked like the standard denial for a credit card, with a transunion score and all).  mostly because my limit on all my other cards is right around or well above 5k.

so, i started using the mc and the visa with the $500 cl a bit, just because 1.5% is better than the base 1% on all my other cards for stuff that doesn't fit the higher % categories.  guess i'll try again in a few months.  what blows my mind is chase has no problems converting from visa to mc, or move credit limits around.

Yes, I've tried to combine Sig VISA -> WMC long ago because I really had no use for the Sig VISA (WMC I planned to use @ Sam's Club). I told the same story about Chase. They told me no, it's not possible because they are different products.

Never even heard of this card until I got my conversion letter the other day. Got the no hassle card back in May and now being converted to Quicksilver. Did not have any Capital One cards when I applied for it and was a bit bummed that it came with crappy $10k limit. Using it as my primary card for 1.5% purchase and charges usually over $5k a month, how are they about giving CL increases after a few months of charging like that and paying in full? Also do they do another hard pull?

No hard pull for a CLI.  Best way (right now) to achieve this is to first do an online request (under services).  If it is denied (likely) or you are not satisfied with the results, email the executive offices
at: richard.fairbank@capitalone.com.  Explain your situation and tell them why you need an increase.  Worked for me even after many attempts via luv button and even a facebook attempt.

There is a huge discussion about this over at Creditboards here  I'd look at doing this quickly as they seem to be getting inundated.

Another data point:

Applied for this card from the website. Received it this week and its crappy $3,000 limit. Last time I checked, my FICO score was 805; low credit utilization; most of my other cards are $20,000-$30,000 limit.

Wow, didn't expect that low limit.

Well, I was going to try to apply for this card for the $100 bonus (already had the No Hassle card), but I got the automatic conversion letter. A bit of a bummer.

I had the Cash rewards card already (got that $100 bonus), then I applied for this card and got the bonus too...

I expected a low limit from them, and that's what I got, too.

I guess you have to be a millionaire to get the $5k credit limit for the visa signature? I have the old cash rewards mastercard and now this one, but both only have a $3k limit. I'm hoping I can call them to move some of the credit limit from my old card to the new QuickSilver to get the required $5 limit. Any one have experience with that?  I'd really like the signature benefits and plan to use this card a lot.
