Wow!
national interbank looks a lot like Union Federal Bank yet they have "High Yield Money Market Savings" at different rates and both say:
"All checking, savings, money market and certificate of deposit accounts are provided by Union Federal Bank." |

Is there anyway around presidentials direct deposit requirement ?
Would a monthly automatic ACH deposit from ING suffice ?
That 3% is like $225 a year on those with $25k sitting around.
Thanks |

I called Presidential about the Ing ACh and the CSR said no. I called again and spoke to a different CSR to confirm. She also said NO. So, ACH is not enough. |

I see they allow the dd to come from a business acct and wonder if one could find a cheap/free business account.
Thanks for posting about Presidential checking account. Here I thought we were getting a good deal at the credit union for the last 35 years! |

It might be worth adding BofI's Tiered Money Market Savings, it is roughly comparable to Presidential Bank, mostly inferior, but has one big benefit -- no direct deposit requirement. Only 2.35% on first $25K, unfortunately, but 1.98% over $25K (PB's is 1.75%). Also $1500 minimum. It at least compares foavorably with some of the other money markets on the list ... |

CharterOne non-special checking rate drops to 1.3%APR. I suggest removing CharterOne from the list.
BofI MM was added in 5/12 but it may be hidden in several BofI accounts.
How about re-organize all accounts with their rates? If a bank has several accounts, ranking it with its highest rate (usually MM). |

Not a positive trend from ING. I expected more from ING. I haven't seen much improvement in their web interfaces/services for a while either. And whatever happened to checking account from ING rumor I saw discussed in msn forum.
I'm impressed with presidential bank though - they have been at 3% for a while . You get 3% only upto $25K, but still it is impressive rate. |

Since I've had the account these are the improvements I've noticed:
- added third, random security identifier for logon - list out the linked accounts with account numbers. Before that it just listed the accounts. - give date when deposited funds are available for withdrawal - send confirmation of scheduled transfers - allow you to cancel scheduled transfers, before that you had to call in - list of scheduled payments on the same page as account activity - description of how to link an account and types of accounts that can be linked - Quicken account download updated to work correctly with Quicken 2003
As for the interest issue, they'd have to be pretty dumb to keep the rate high when the Fed rates keep going down. << I'm impressed with presidential bank though - they have been at 3% for a while . First American Bank in the Chicagoland area is running the 3.00% checking promotion again. 4 months guaranteed and then YMMV. Need direct deposit or auto payments established with in 60 days. Last year I had a 4.5% deal with them for 9 months then it gradually dropped to under 1%.
List of branches.
My CharterOne Checking account is still earning 2.5% not the 1% being quoted here; maybe I am grandfathered.
Just checked CharterOnes web site, there are quoting 1.98% now.
Update
My money is no good at First American bank since I already had a promo account with them last year they said. There was no stipulation of this on the flyer. Is this worth a class action law suit? |
