Many of us are dues-paying, card-carrying members of warehouse clubs, which are an alternative to conventional retail stores and service businesses. Warehouse clubs require a potential client to "apply" for membership and to pay a membership fee. Here are some warehouse club links - please e-mail me if you know of smaller regional warehouse clubs which I can provide links for (such as Oregon's Bi-Mart).

dont forget costcos realtor rebate program!

BTW SN, Ive noticed youre really doing a great job on creating these needed FAQs and finding past threads....just wanted to give you a virtual pat on the back <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Let me second SIS, SN: I appreicate how much quality effort you've put into FAQ threads of late. (OT: I'm sorry to see a decline in the number and quality of posts at MSN banking, where you've done superb work...perhaps you've opted to focus more of your time here?)

To address your post:

I've used Costco's check printing many times, always with excellent results, and cheaper than with ANY other vendor. As with many Costco prodocts, prices are even lower if you have an executive membership.

I've also signed up for their roadside assistance plan, though happily I've had no need to use it yet.

Some of the discounted services offered by warehouse clubs seem "too good to be true" - which was the motivation for developing this thread.

In a marketplace of spiraling service costs (even amidst a "deflationary" consumer-price index), some of these values are well worth exploring particularly if the sponsoring warehouse club is committed to 100% customer satisfaction.

Costco operates a large number of warehouses overseas: Mexico, England, Scotland, Japan, Taiwan, and Canada.

FYI, if you frequently shop in Canada (hint: frequently visiting your aunt in Winnipeg or an Internet pen pal in Oshawa) you could purchase a Costco Gold Star membership at a Costco Warehouse in Canada for C$50 (equivalent to US$37.50), slightly less than the US$45 at US Costco warehouses. I'm not sure of the Canadian-dollar price of Executive memberships. You might need to maintain a Canadian address to receive the Canadian-dollar price on renewals, but your card would be honored throughout all Costco warehouses worldwide. One quirk, though, is the Costco Cash cards aren't honoured in Canada yet.

Just to share my experience with what SiS had brought up...

I signed up with Costco Realtor Rebate program last year when I decided to sell my house in So. Cal was offered a $1500 rebate. I was referred to a local Century21 agent but they wanted the standard 6% commission and was not willing to negotiate. They said this is because i was referred from the program so they could not negotiate. I turned it down and went with another agent that gave me 1.5% of sales price which nets me about $4k.

Interestingly enough, they gave my home the highest valuation (30K more) among all the realtors that I called. I was a bit suspicious (perhaps the agent sounded green) at the time and want the house to be in the market for too long and wasn't sure how long the hot market will last. Maybe, if I stuck with them, I could have made 40K more! Oh well, it's impossible to time it.

The Real Estate rebate and Home Loan rebate programs are among the most interesting services offered by warehouse clubs. Does anyone else have experience with these services from Costco, Sam's or BJ's?

Thanks for the work. Just some housekeeping notes on the links: a couple of the costco lending tree links has the double http://https:// on them.

fastz28: thanks for the reminders. The Costco Lending Tree loan links have been fixed, and links added for the Costco Real Estate Network.

Good post Seattlenative. BJs website looks much improved over previous version link. Has a section where you can download coupons and has an online rebate tracker.

Costco Cash is similar to a Gift Card, but it can be re-loaded. It can be used at U.S. Costco Warehouses and Gas Stations - but currently cannot be used outside the U.S. (i.e. Canada).

Costco Cash appears to have no nuisance fees, unlike many GCs. Have any of you used these?

Wow. Thanks for the list.

Is there a way to get a Sam's Club trial membership?

Thanks for all the info. Very helpful.
I saved $600 a year going with Costco car insurance on my two cars. I was using Farmers insurance before that.

How does Costco check printing work?

I thought I can only re-order personal checks from my financial institution.
If I buy personal checks from costco, how do they know all the information to print on the checks?

So it looks to me like the Costco deal for HELOC or HELs is basically just Lending Tree, but you get a $50 or $100 cash card after closing. Is that it, or do Costco members get special rates or anything like that?

A while back, BJ's sent me an new membership offerwhich included $10 off first purchase. I can no longer find the offer. Is this an ongoing offer, periodic, or was it my one time chance. I think I am ready to join as my Sam's Club card is about to expire and I want to give BJ a shot.

Another reason I think I will join BJ's is because they just sent me a preapproved BJ's Mastercard application which includes a rewards program of 1/2% to 1 and 1/2% cash back in BJ's Bucks. Plus, you get another $40 BJ's Bucks after the first use of the card. I think it's best to get the membership first though.

Any opinions and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Please PM me with links for BJ's and its various services. These can be incorporated into the FAQ thread.

Here in the Seattle area, there are no BJ's warehouses. Costco operates about a dozen warehouses in this area and Sam's Club has two warehouses. While the underlying Costco concept actually originated in California's Price Club warehouses in the mid-1970s, the Costco company and brand identity originated in Seattle in 1983, so there is a lot of local brand loyalty to Costco here.

session expired for all sams club links!!

Guys, any comments on Costco Ageless Care Medical & Dental Savings? There r so many which u come across these days, but do these discount programs actually save u money? Any update on which ones are better?

Bump for a great thread.

And Costco/Road America members, please take note:

As of May 14, 2004, Road America has terminated their relationship with Costco Wholesale. Your Road America membership will continue to be valid and you will still receive service until the expiration date listed on your card. If you would like to cancel your Road America membership before that time, please call 1-866-235-3678 to receive a prorated refund. Thank you for your support of this program. If you have any question or concerns, please call 1-800-220-6000.

Link.

I'm surprised that Road America is dropping its Costco affiliation. I understand it is a very highly regarded service.

I am updating the links for Sam's Club and generally working on updating the FAQ. Thank you for your patience!

Bumping thread - FAQ will soon be updated, and this is a great topic. I could use more information about BJs for the FAQ and other, smaller regional warehouse clubs.

the fist link to the costco lending tree is wrong

I used Costco Check Printing service. Cheapest check printing service out there + the check box come soon enough. Recommend!

BTW, I paid around $8.90 for 2 boxes, 300 duplicate checks total, include shipping.

FAQ being updated - bump for interest.
