Please respond to this thread with suggestions for improvement... it is definately still in 0.1 stage, but is a start in the right direction.

I think the main concern is getting people to READ AND REFER TO THE FAQ list before posting and not to repost...whether you post a "hot deals" type disclaimer on the "new post" page, or some other steps...

I appreciate the help I've received in this forum and would like to see it continue and flourish. I'm not sure that anything will convince more people to read the FAQs; it's human nature. Many Fatwallet members have probably grown tired of weeding through the finance forum and may have already given up and stopped or curtailed their participation.
Even though I realize the following does not represent the majority opinion, I would split the forum into: Real Estate (including questions), Investments (including questions), Miscellaneous Finance, and “Deals” (which is what keeps Fatwallet profitable). This would of course mean more work for everyone, but that's life.
I'm glad that there finally is a sticky with these links. I generally go through all the new questions or topics to see if there is any new info anyway so it really doesn't bother me "weeding" through it. I hope that people will use the links in this thread though instead of starting new topics on already covered issues. I see numerous "I have XXX dollars and need to know what to do with it," or insurance questions.
I don't think additional forums are the answer personally. Hot deals "suffers " as people put it from the same problem. Some members want one forum for computer deals, another for this, and another for that.

A FAQ on FICO scores is needed and not obvious. - it is in the Credit Card FAQ and the Car Buying FAQ
I wanted to warmly thank many of you who have contributed to developing the FW Finance FAQs over the past 6 months. It has helped this community grow into an excellent finance resource.

Can you have a Mortgage FAQ? Mortgage is listed, but there is no link associated with it.

How about a timeshare FAQ? The thread posted today by user JackAshe (in which he reveals several of the high-pressure tactics used in selling him a overvalued timeshare) is worthy of archiving. The same discussion has surfaced several times here in FWF.

There have been some very good posts on health insurance for the self employed. Self employed retirement plan ideas have been posted that had some smart ideas. Also some on business credit cards that are all relative to small business.
What about a section pertaining to sole proprietors or similar, i.e., getting started in business, forms of incorporation, etc? I realize this would be difficult as states have their own laws but might be helpful to some.
