Try asking if you can just combine the two cards into one. If they grasp that, then say you just want to combine 90% of first card's LOC with the target card.

I just received a Citi Professional, so I guess I will try much luck on reallocating between the Dividend, Professional, and Diamond Preferred and see what happens.
I can tell you what's going to happen. They're not going to let you reallocate the Professional. If you want to do it, you'll have to convert it to another card. I've gotten CSR to put in a reallocation from Professional, but regardless, it will not go through.
Does "converting" require a new application (and thus a hard pull)? Did you convert to a personal or business card?
No, it doesn't require a hard pull. I converted to a personal card so I could reallocate to a personal card.
simonduk said: Citi is driving me up the wall! I have spoken to three reps who all state they do not EVER (perhaps they should read this forum) reallocate from the PP elite to any other card. They also won't let me reallocate from Citi Business to Professional or the other way around (although I was expecting this). I have a PP elite, Professional, biz PP and citibusiness. Anybody has any experience reallocating any combination of these?
Thank you!
I just reallocated from my Professional over to my new CitiBusiness card. I contacted CitiBusiness customer service and they did it without any problem, it showed up the next day online.
I recently had a interesting and very negative experience with Citi I'd like to share.
I recently noticed that my CITI simplicity had a 12 month 0% balance offer showing online (I've had the card for about a year and had just finished the first 0% offer a few months ago). So, I called in during working hours to reallocate from two different cards to the Simplicity to take full advantage of this offer. Usually it only takes the rep. only a few seconds to submit the request (btw, I hate how this takes 1-2 days for Citi). This the rep. put me on hold and I was waiting for at least 5 minutes.
The rep takes me off hold and asks why I want to to do the reallocation. I say because I have a 0% BT offer online. He then says" "I thought so", and then brings out some crap about how that offer is only for 3 months or so and how he can do a BT for 6.9% right now on the phone. I decline, because I know I have the 12 months for 0% online and he agrees to go ahead and do the reallocation after wasting some more of my time.
Fast forward to a few days later - I go online to check that the reallocation was done and what do you know, the 0% offer is gone and there is a 6.9% offer sitting there. Man am I upset - to me it looks like the rep killed my 0% offer and replaced it with a 6.9%. Why???????
I'm going to stick with India from now on - my guess is this guy was looking to get a commission and spent that 5 minutes killing my 0% offer and replaced it with his 6% one which he would get paid for. Or he did it out of spite since I didn't go for the 6.9%. There is of course the chance that the computer did it - but the timing seems awfully suspicious!

It may have been unrelated, but I can't say for sure...I had a couple existing Citi cards that had 0% BT offers showing for the past couple months online and just a week or so ago they changed to 5.9% offers or something like that....fortunately, I also had a new Citi AMEX card that still had 0% offers, so I did a reallocation to that card for my BT deals....I kind of doubt a CSR would get a commission for your BT either way, but maybe some kind of star on his record if he talks you into a BT....
After I reallocated an old CL to my Citi AMEX, the CSR said I may now be able to get a CLI on my old card (that I just reduced the CL from $13k to $3k) if I wanted...I said sure will it be a hard-pull on my credit...she said she thought she could get away without it and how much did I want ? I said to try for $15k (more than my original line that I just reallocated)....the next day I noticed a hard-pull on my credit and no increase in my CL...I was a little ticked and planning to call and complain but today (maybe 5 days later) I got an e-mail that my CL on the old card was increased to $16800, so even after the reallocation to my 0% card, I now have more CL on my old card than I did to start with...total CL on Citi personal cards is now up to $60k....guess I can't complain....

Citi Professional seems to be regarded within Citi as a "business card"....the official line is that you can only reallocate personal-to-personal or business-to-business, so you will most likely get shot down. Some have reported success calling late at night to Indian CSRs. I think it can be done but it probably won't be easy. I gave up trying to reallocate Citi Prof to personal and just got more Citi business cards to use for reallocating on the business side.
I know Longwood8 tried reallicating or consolidating some Washington Mutual cards without any success. Has anyone else had any success doing so?
I've tried 2x and no luck both times. In my experience, its not that they definitely have a policy against it, its just that I can't reach anyone that understands what the heck a reallocation or consolidation is! I keep getting foreign service reps. that have no clue! Oh well.
steevyniu2004 said: I know Longwood8 tried reallicating or consolidating some Washington Mutual cards without any success. Has anyone else had any success doing so? As noted on the CC Issuer FAQ, no luck here either.
I consolidated two HSBC cards (Ameriquest into my existing Household Bank since it's my oldest and Ameriquest was my newer ones) The rep said they might or might not do a hard pull to accomplish this. He said that I should receive something to sign in the mail in 7-14 days, and then I have to send it back. I haven't seen a hard pull yet, although I have only been able to check my credit report twice since the call because TrueCredit has been down for two days now.
Has anyone been through this, and did you get a hard pull or not? I checked this thread and the "Card Issuer FAQ" thread, and all I see is that it can be done, not whether or not there is a hard pull.
any recent successes with WaMu? I have two WaMu cards now (one of these used to be a Providian card, and this card has significnatly better terms), and consolidating these seems to be the thing to do ...

I don't think anyone has reported success reallocating WaMu cards, but please let us know if you are able to do it.
No problem transferring two personal citibank card lines to the Citi AMEX card.
Questions they asked :
a) do you have enough credit limit for these transfers? b) account number for all cards
Was put on hold twice for two cards. The transfers have not yet appeared on my account. CSR told me would appear in 24 hours. Total call time was 14 minutes.
Any recent experiences trying to move Premier Pass Elite credit line would be appreciated. I didn't try this round.
If I reallocate my CLs between 2 Citibank cards do they send new info to CRA's right away (I know BofA does) or they won't report it until next statement closes?
fafura said: If I reallocate my CLs between 2 Citibank cards do they send new info to CRA's right away (I know BofA does) or they won't report it until next statement closes?I re-allocated my limits w/ citi yesterday - it doesn't seem to have been reported yet today. From my past experience - even if I'd get a cli in mid cycle w/ citi, it wouldn't get reported until the statement date.

Slightly different than a straight reallocation, but I wouldn't anticipate a problem.
I am in the process of an interesting reallocation with Citi currently. As part of my last AOR and BT investing round, I've received 3 new Citi personal cards; one of which was the Hilton HHonors card. I applied for it because I had read reports it usually was approved with a large credit line. Sure enough, I got a 15,000 line.
Now, to reallocate the majority of that with my main line Citi cards. All other card reallocations went smoothly - Upromise, Diamond Rewards, Simlicity. Last one up was Hilton HHonors. My rep doesn't know if this one can be done but checks with her manager and comes back several minutes later reporting that it can be done. The request is submitted.
As you might have guessed, a half an hour later all the reallocations have shown up on line except for the Hilton card. I waited a week and called today. My rep checks into it and transfers me to an Account Manager. He explains why it's not possible. But, he adds, I can convert it to a Citi card that can be reallocated. I converted to a Diamond Rewards and am waiting until tomorrow to move most of the credit line.
I bet this technique has been mentioned somewhere in this thread before. But, I hadn't thought about it before and considering the thread is many pages long, I thought I'd post. Hope it helps someone.
I submitted a request to move the line on my 15K Hilton Card to a Diamond Preferred card. The CSR said it was OK to move between thos cards. I first tried to move the line to a Professional card but she said that cannot be done. Hopefully my reallocation will go through.

I think you might be waiting a long time. I got a CITI Hh Signature card as part of my AoR, Got a nice line of $50k but then found they don't report CL. I tried to reallocate to my CITI Diamond card and at first was told I could. Then I was told you cannot reallocate from any Hilton card. So in the end I had them downgrade the Hilton Signature card to a Platinum, which then reported the CL
I just logged back into my online account and the reallocation is showing up. New line on my DP card and my Hilton card is now closed. That did not take long at all. Time to do another BT.

I tried along with others about 6 months ago and none of us could get it done. Was yours a Signature card? Maybe I should try again with my now regular Hilton card. Could you tell me what number you called to get this done? Thanks in advance
I was able to reallocate Discover Get More (aka Platinum) to Discover Miles.
Call 1: No way, that is impossible. Call 2: Sure, I just did it....(2 days later nothing had happened) Call 3: Sure, I just did it (and I could tell online instantly)
CSR #2 claimed in order to remain "Platinum" I had to maintain at least $5,000. I didn't care if I lost my platinum status but I didn't want to argue.
CSR #3 did in fact knock my Platinum below $5K but without doing a hard pull determined that I shouldn't have more than $20K on my Miles card. My Miles card is my oldest of all cards so I didn't push, $20K will do for now.
The Discover Miles card is heavily used and the Platinum was never used. Not sure if that contributed to them letting me do it or not.

Sounds similar to my situation. Best of luck. It's interesting some reps say you can't do it and won't even try, some say you can but in the end it doesn't go through, and in some cases it seems like people have reported reallocations that shouldn't have gone through have.
In my case I would say that it just wasn't going to happen, given that my CSR submitted the request and I gave it a week. In the end it's no loss to me since I got my 15,000 bonus Hilton Honors points, a $15,000 new line of credit and was able to transfer that line to my existing Citi lines. I actually had no need for the Hilton Card itself.

I called 1-888-977-6687. Yes it was a signature card.
New and even more interesting situation than the one with Citi I just posted...
I just applied and was accepted for a BofA Star Wars MC; this was the 30th card applied for in my AOR and I feel fortunate to have gotten it. I called last night and worked with a very nice, yet very inexperienced American CSR. She asked and I said I was going to do a BT so a commission on her side was probably a factor in the time she spent on me.
1. Starting out (all cards BofA): Star Wars - $5,000 AMEX - $8,000 Platinum Plus (PP) Visa - $25,000 PP MC - $15,000 Total amount of credit - $53,000
2. After trying to reallocate most to Star Wars card: AMEX - $500 PP MC - $1,000 PP Visa - $25,000 Star Wars - $26,500
Seemed to be a problem moving $24,500 from the PP Visa. Her computer was giving her major problems and she put me on hold 15 minutes. After coming back she apologizes and says it kept giving her an error (we discuss the fact that it might have been because the minimum limit on a PP Visa might be $1,000). She acts as if its all complete and is about ready to do the BT.
3. After second attempt to move $24,500 from PP Visa Star Wars - $31,500 PP Visa - unknown...on my screen it still says $25,000, I can tell that on her end she thinks some of this line has been moved
I go on hold again. 10 minutes later she's back explaining that $50,000 is the max limit. I say ok, then can we just transfer enough to get it to around $50,000. On hold for 5 more minutes. After coming back I was pleasantly surprised.
4. Final State after all reallocation complete: AMEX - $500 PP MC - $1,000 PP Visa - $5,500 Star Wars - $50,000 Total amount of credit - $57,000
Somehow, at the end of it I was given $4,000 in extra credit. No complaints from me. To top it off, a BT to my checking account in now en route.
Moral of the story (as I take it), if you want to try something with BofA, try it. Lately they've been very liberal with their credit line increases and seem to have no care about reallocating relatively large amounts of credit.
I called 1-888-977-6687. Yes it was a signature card. Thank you. Called that number and 5 minutes later Hilton showed as closed and Diamond card CL increased by $50k. Not sure why they would not do this in the past. Now need to hit the CLI button and try and add another $100k card
Also, my experience is that you cannot move the citi Hilton credit line. I just did it with one quick phone call. One other thing I noticed was in the past I could not get my Hilton account thru regular CITI logon page, now I can. So looks like they now have them connected
retire35 said: Citi told me they could move the line, but never did it. Is your line changed? Yes, As soon as I got off the phone I logged into my account and the Hilton line was moved to my Diamond card. Just call this number 1-888-977-6687
Piece of cake ... 20K moved from Citi Hilton to my Diamond AMEX in minutes and showed online immediately. I think it depends on how good a CSR you happen to connect to.
I too got shot down on a HHonors reallocation a week or two ago. Will call and try again once this month's payment goes through.
Also tried to do Professional to Personal. Got told no way twice. Has anyone had any luck with this?
Tried both times to do professional to business, got told no the first time, yes the second time.
Also called Business and asked to reallocate to personal, got told sure give me the account number. After a week of it not going through I've been told they see no record of that request and you aren't allowed to do that, but offered to move it to my Professional card. I may move the CL back to help utilization and keep trying Professional to Personal reallocation. Kind of stinks because I have about $45k in CL between 2 business cards and professional, and no real ability to use them (no BT offers, I had one on professional but it just ended). I guess next AOR I'll be sure to apply for a professional or business with a BT offer.
I was first told that it would go through, but never saw it online. I waited and called back, and was told the two are "not compatible" according to the CSR.

Mine was a Signature. It did not go through, although I got a CSR to make an attempt.
