FWIW: I reallocated from a Discover personal miles card to a new Discover business card about 3 weeks ago. The CSR was happy to move the CL. |

Just moved 22K out of available 27K from my Chase Sony card to Chase Disney Rewards. The Sony account is 6 years old and has no good BT offers. The Disney Visa was issued five days ago and came with a 4K limit and 0% for 12 months. I would like to move the remaining 5K from Sony to Disney, but don't know why they won't let me do it. I recently had a 4.5K balance on Sony, but that was paid off 2 days ago. The payment has already been posted and my balance is now $0, but maybe it's still waiting to be paid in the background? I'll try again in a couple of days. |

Nope, but it was within days of receiving the business card (so they may have not felt it was necessary to pull again). |

I posted this on a different topic but thought it might be helpful here as well... I CLR'd from Citi Platinum AMEX to Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards MC 3 days ago. The rep said she didn't know if it would go through or not but it showed up online within an hour or two. I've found the Diamond Preferred Rewards card is a great point card for CLR's within citi. I was able to CLR from PremierPass Elite to Diamond Preferred Rewards MC to CitiBiz card even though i wasn't allowed to CLR from PPE to the Biz directly. I also just CLR'd from my 5yr old Diamond Preferred Rewards MC to a brand new CashReturns card without closing the DPR card. I always call citibusiness for CLR's even if the CLR is personal to personal, they just seem much more competent and able to get it done. |

I just did a search on this thread and the last hit for Capital One was in 2006. Anybody know if they allow credit reallocation? Personal->Personal? Personal->Business? Thanks! |

Does reallocating the entire limit from one account close it, or does it delete it from the CRA? |

Sinhcredible said:Does reallocating the entire limit from one account close it, yes. "reallocating" the entire credit limit is known as "consolidation." the term "reallocate" implies your are leaving some credit on the source card.
or does it delete it from the CRA? no. the source card will show as closed on your credit reports. |

When re allocate AMEX requires a minimum of $1000, Chase a minimum of $500. Others? Or, other experiences? |

Also, MasterCard has its own guidelines for Platinum and World, but they let some issuing banks override them, e.g. Citi. BofA for Visa: $100 (not sure about Visa Signature min required CL). This has been discussed. |

Chase let me take the World Mastercard down to $500. I think Signature Visa is also the same. Citibank recently told me a $1000 minimum on both Platinum Select and CitiBusiness Platinum Select. When I tried to reallocate more it failed. I have had other Citi cards (Dividend) sub-$500. |

Chase GM Business just let me consolidate my Cash Plus rewards entirely ($17.1k), without any "$500" remainder or anyhing of the sort... I guess its best to call the business line directly. Like always, thanks FWF! SantiJS |

Call and ask them to convert your PP to a non NPSL account, wait a day and you might. Make sure to call the number on the Pro card for the best chance of success subsequent to conversion. |

When reallocating a CL from one card to the other, do one of the cards get closed? I've tried to read up on this but it seems to have alluded me. Thanks! |

It's pretty strange that it has ELuded you so far. If it's CLR (CL reallocation) none of the cards gets closed. If it's CLS (CL consolidation), then one of the cards gets closed. Sometimes a CC issuer allows only a CLS (for a specific pair of cards), sometimes only in one direction but not another, sometimes they only allow CLR ... |

My CitiBiz PP card was up for renewal and I didn't want to pay the annual fee of $75. I asked the CSR if I could reallocate to another business card, like my Citi Pro TYP, and he said I could, but I couldn't consolidate. I requested it yesterday, logged in today and it was processed. I initially talked to a regular (Indian call center) CSR about the CitBiz PP CLR and he transfered me to a credit specialist (in the U.S.). Assuming this credit specialist has more authority than a normal CSR in the U.S., perhaps it makes sense for others to call at odd hours to try and get a specialist to help them rather than a normal CSR. Also, on a separate call with a CitiBiz AA CSR, I tried to reallocate and/or consolidate my CitiBiz AA card (the remaining $2k CL) to the Citi Pro and was told it was not possible, even after I said I did the exact same thing (reallocate) in March of last year. The CSR told me that they enacted some new rules in Nov. of last year, but wouldn't ellaborate. However, I was able to consolidate the CitiBiz AA with my CitiBiz TYP card. |
