Juniper allows only one biz card per individual. They re-allocate CL from biz to personal, but at most $4500 with application. Finally, they verify that the balances that you requested to transfer are listed on your credit report.

That said, I assume one personal account CLI request is fine but if you turn the next day to try a business CLI your result might be:
"you have been declined a credit limit increase due to a CLI request within the past xx months."
well Discover has a soft pull credit limit increase that is supposed to be based upon the individual account. Is this CLI also SSN based? I am assuming you mean that only the Hard inquiry CLI is SSN Based.
But given that, if I had a $500 Discover personal credit limit. Would $500 be enuff to exercise the line and continue to build the account using CLI's? Or should I leave more, like $1000? or does it not matter how much I leave?
Also would you know if Discover would allow a second re-allocation? Ex: From Personal to Business they allow. But would they allow a 2nd re-allocation from Business back to Personal like 3 months later or something? I called Discover "New Accounts" requesting consolidation of my two distinct Discover card accounts. Rep said it is not possible to simply merge credit limits. She went on to say if I closed one of the cards, the most I could get for CLI on the remaining active account is just $2000.
Anyone else think these CCC's really don't like the "Card Act" and therefore feel the need to cite it as the reason behind any decision? (Or maybe they use it to just change anything they wish and throw around a big word like "Card Act")

There's a sub-prime issuer that used to be able to charge $199 for a $250 credit limit card. That pricing model is now dead due to Card Act.
Just tried to reallocate through Citi over the last two days. Each rep says that due to "security reasons" they no longer allow that. I know they USED to, since I had done it before.
Will they do it if you open a new account? I have had them do it before saying "we won't give you any new credit, but we can reallocate your credit lines across your cards to effectively create a credit line on a new card."
neophyte said: Bank of America: did the reallocation via online chat, no need to call, no chance of being transferred to Credit Analyst
They may still send the information to a credit analyst. My understanding from a management source is that they interpret the credit law of requiring that whenever they raise a credit limit they must establish that you are able to repay it (and a reallocation involves raising one credit line).
I had assurances from a CSR that he could move $900 from one card to another bring that one to $1,000 (my total lines with them are well over $150,000 so they apparently think I am not much of a risk) and that it had been done. That Sunday I was woke up at 8Am by a credit analyst who had been assigned tor review the request. After a discussion, I did get my request, but I was unable to resume my sleep.
I've never had an trouble re-allocating with BofA/FIA. Last Fall, I moved 20K from a BofA Platinum Plus card to my new Schwab 2% CashBack card without any difficulty. I was asked for verbal confirmation of my income. No hard inquiry was pulled.
AMEX let me close and reallocate the credit line from a Delta Skymiles into a Blue Cash. At first I was told this wasn't possible, but I got transferred a couple times to some other credit department. The rep said the reallocation was part of a relatively new process that few CSRs can do. The change showed up online almost immediately.

That's not a reallocation though ... I think it's called "conversion" (from one product into another), as you did not get to keep your Delta SkyMiles (I imagine you wanted to get out of it b/c of the annual fee).
I should clarify, the Blue Cash account was an existing account - so I had a 10k Blue Cash and 10k Delta Skymiles, now have a Blue Cash with 20k limit.
I have a Sears store card which appears to be issued by Citicard. Is it possible to consolidate the credit line to my Citi Dividend Platinum Select card?
I am getting shot down at Citi. CSR states that after July 2010 there was a law enacted that prevents this. Is anybody having any luck? Any specific no. I should call?
Hi, I have multiple accounts with Chase, BofA, and Citi. Chase and BofA will do line transfers (have done transfers with both in the last month). Citi, not sure yet. Got turned down by a front end CSR. He gave me a phone number to speak to the "Credit Management" department. They are closed right now, so I'll have to call tomorrow morning. If you want to do a line transfer, follow the instructions below.
Chase 1. Call (800) 432-3117. 2. Ask to speak with the "Credit" department. 3. Once transfered, you will be on the line with a credit analyst who should be able to do the line transfer. Note: They will require a soft inquiry, but as you may know, that's no big deal. Soft inquiries do not affect your credit.
BofA 1. Call (866) 506-5064. 2. You will be immediately connected to a credit analyst who should be able to do the line transfer. Note: They will require a soft inquiry, but as you may know, that's no big deal. Soft inquiries do not affect your credit.
CitiCard 1. CitiCard does not do line consolidations. (updated 3/18/2011)
When I called, she first told me they could only do transfers from other non citi credit cards. When I explained I did not want to transfer the balance but the credit line she said they do not do that either. When I asked if this was new, she said no it was always like that. When I said I had done this before again she said they could only transfer from non-Citi Cards. So I asked if I closed my discover account if they would transfer my credit limit to the card and then she said no again. So I guess she sounds a little confused but it appears that citi no longer allows consolidating the limits onto Citi Cards.

I was also turned down by Citi on 5/20. I wanted to move CL from my Citi AA to Forward. I tried to call different numbers, i.e. the numbers on the back of Citi AA, Forward, and some credit department. All of them said no.

Yeah I was a CSR for US Bank awhile ago and the first level reps definitely weren't able to do it. The most we could do was a basic CLI, if you were "due" for one and your account qualified. But if you ask for supervisors and get to the right person/department, you should be able to get it done eventually. But I don't know if you'd be able to go between US Bank branded cards and Elan branded cards though, even though they're all under the same company.
djspray said: Is it a Biz card, or do you have one?
I tried a week after activating my Discover Miles Biz card, and that CSR was able to reallocate from 2 separate cards (1 biz, 1 personal). It didn't seem like a big deal to her.
how about moving some credit limit from one discover more card to another discover more card?
I just applied a new discover more card and was approved, but during application I was not allowed to combine the CL.
Denied transferring a BofA credit line to FIA card without a hard inquiry. Tried 5 times. First time (FIA CSR): allowed, but never happened. Second time (FIA CSR, few weeks later): Can't be done. Systems do not allow. Third time (BofA CSR): Can be done but have to call back later. Fourth time (BofA CSR said it can't be done but I insisted to be transferred to BofA credit analyst): Can be done but requires hard credit inquiry. Fifth time (BofA chat agent): Can't be done. Systems do not allow.
Get your act together BofA. What did you do with all that bailout money? Oh yes, spend it on the marketing plan and advertising for the $5 debit card fee. And then withdraw it. No wonder you guys are going down the tubes. You just lost my business.

I was able to move most of my limit from my Chase Freedom to my Sapphire via secure message, but was told I would have to call to close the Freedom card.
